SPOILER What Exactly Is Elctromagic

If you haven't done the quest The Envoy please click away because the quest is so cool and has a bunch of cool features so i dont want to spoil anything.


Ok back to the topic. During the quest you meet an apprentice practicing the art of electromagic. Since the people of corkus didn't have magic skills they devolved a practice off a different type of magic. Que elctromagic, but they dont go into detail about it. So i wanted to know what exactly is it and how is it different from normal magic.

thats kinda vauge so i was looking for some theories
the most common theory for magic is that its a very advanced technolgy

I would say it's a branch of the thunder element that allows for technology that's not really electric but not really gears and clockwork either. It's kinda like a weird technomagic.

In theory anyone in Fruma could have it, since it was not discovered until the peeps left Fruma. The player could have it and not even know.

There isn't much to build a theory on.

Assuming the computer-y stuff and Wynntron from ??? are directly related to the Antikythera Supercomputer, then Electromagic allows for the building of sentient AI. It also might be an energy source, as what else would robots run on? Of course, it could be something simple. Like gas. Or regular magic (although the Corkians don't know regular magic, so it's safe to assume that their robots aren't powered with regular magic). But then, what is regular magic? And what about the Quartron? I mean, it has connections to Gavelexcavation, so I'm guessing they know about Electromagic. It also makes sense that the builders of Llevigar's power plant know electromagic, as well. So that means that they've gone to Corkus. Corkians built their mechanical empire while tensions were escalating with the Avos, so for at least 350 years (as said in the Relos Library). The Relos Library also states: "Electromagic: The magic of machines."
Like I said, not much to build theories on.

Also this:
"The electromagical force that governs the Factory seems to have an agenda of it’s own, and some machines have rebelled against their creators."
This implies (at least to me) that Electromagic cannot be fully controlled (by humans), and thus is itself, sentient. yey for sentient magic.

 

i personally think its used to create alter things. In the first quest maxie uses it to change the metal blocking us from the vent and while i was thinks about it i checked out the part 2 and maxie then uses it to change the catapult so we get launched. The delegate says its used to build robots but not control (As you can obviously see)

 

Seems like if anything, it allows you to create robots with 1 unchanging command

 

It's basically electricity, except it's not called electricity. That explains the welding, machines, and computers.

They are machines who think by themselves.

Machines need electricity and a AI, but we are in a fantasy world, so instead of an AI, let's put some magic.

And here we are, we got electromagic.

JUST KIDDING. The specifics are an enigma.

 

When the ct was out of ideas to explain everything happening in Corkus

 

every province has some kind of magic, and it would be weird to give normal magic that is in gavel or wynn to corkus, a land possessed by mostly humans, who built the land with industrial work (if that makes sense probs doesn't) , and no magic, so the content team decided to make some kind of magic to that is related to corkus (because you have to have magic it's wynncraft there are no excuses), so they made electromagic, a mix of electricity and magic basically.

 

My theory is that it shifts magnetic fields in order to move metal and generate power, and that the Corkians use it to power the robots and operate mechanisms on the small scale. This is why their technology is similar to ours today even without a substantial source of power, as they don't seem to have coal, oil, or other conventional ways to generate power. It also explains how Maxie forces open the vent and the fence in the Envoy 1, and starts the catapult and forces open the door to get the Corkian Key in the Envoy 2; he operates directly on those objects to bend them out of his way. Also in the scene where he (I think) destroys the disguised farmer bot, he's just crushing the thing into itself by shifting the magnetic fields.

 

I think the power of electromagic is created by quartz.
I have a little bit of proof for this theory,
First we must look at the places where there is electromagic, Llevigar and Corkus.
Besides both having electromagic these two places have another simularity, they both have a lot of quartz. I don't have to explain where the quartz in Llevigar is but in Corkus you have to do a bit more work to find it(not a lot). If you walk on the Island, then on the sides of the mountains there's a lot of white material, I believe this is quartz. The proof I have for this is the fact the material is white and in Relos there's a ship sending quartz to Llevigar.
