Why Does Everyone Hate Pure?

So a friend told me they had a Pure for me as a gift and I was super hyped. I've still not collected it yet (screw you time zones!) but Im still happy. Of all the Mythics in the game, Pure is the only one I've ever wanted.

My question is why does everyone always talk about it like it's sh*t. Doesn't it have the highest spell damage in the game? What's so bad about it that can overshadow that spell damage?

 

Pure has low damage. It is seriously outclassed by all other mythics and probably even lesser-tier weapons around the same level, if not lower. It's a gimmicky wand that just isn't good for its gimmick. It was only good in the past due to bug abuse. Why bother with a 500% spell damage when the base wand does what, 30-40 damage?

So does it not still have amazing spell damage? I don't know if any other wands with that high IDs...

Also speaking of, what ARE other good mythic water wands?

It's damage is very low, but doesn't the spell damage ID make up for it?

Like I said, the high spell damage is meant to make the wand feel RNG-like, some pure will have low spell % while others have high. Base damage is low so the spell damage causes the damage to revert to that of a unique level 60 wand.

I had a 500% spell one and it did 6k meteors with my endgame build

 

Basically this: Base Damage will almost always be more important for getting high damage than any damage-oriented id for weapons, due to Damage Calculation.

Pure relies on a surplus of spell% for damage way too much. Increasing spell damage in builds usually uses % spell, right? But since Pure has a lot of %spell, any bonus %spell doesn't increase its damage a lot, since you already have a lot, but little base damage.

Pure doesn't have powder slots, so you can't increase its base damage to further exploit its spell%. Not to mention that Raw Spell isn't affected by %spell either.

The thing about Pure is that the game directly promotes building damage through the method of stacking % damage onto high base damage:attack speed ratio weapons. Pure acts differently and is thus weak. In a way this is item discrimination.

Anyway, as people have already said, it doesn't do a lot of damage and, when compared to other higher leveled weapons, is way worse.

 

Its supposed to, but it doesn't, sadly. You should try warp if you can find one lol

 

The thing is while the 500% spell dmg is good, it stops there, because the damage is nearly impossible to improve. If you've got another 100% with any other build it would do thousands of extra damage, but if you're using pure you're hardly going to get any extra damage. While the wand in itself could be viewed as decent (I guess), the damage is nearly impossible to augment with bonuses making it a bad weapon.

 

Its possible with raw spell but its still suck

 

Raw damage isn't affected by spell damage% anymore so that doesn't make it any better.
