you guys constantly say this sort of thing, but I constantly see amazing (not mine, friends') applications get denied.

I'm not sure what you guys are trying to pull here.

 

Contrary to what common sense may hold as obvious fact, "more people" does not always equate to "faster completion rate" - in fact, for certain complex and skilled tasks such as GMing and CMD, adding more people can actually reduce efficiency.

To explain it quickly, adding more people causes linear growth in work hours put in, but it also diverts exponentially more work hours to communicating with other workers and extends the finalization process where you have to weave everything together and make sure it all works.

Furthermore, adding more people requires those people to be trained in the various plugins, code formatting conventions, quest making tools and requirements, etc. This training not only delays the increase of efficiency as that trainee cannot begin work right away, but it also prevents a currently productive member from working at full speed since they are training someone else and fixing their mistakes.

Adding a number of new people therefore causes a temporary dip in production for training, and reduces the efficiency per person as more extensive communication and cooperation is needed. In conclusion, adding more people does not always benefit an organization as much as you'd hope; past a certain point, new people become more of a hindrance than an asset.

TL;DR - adding more people could be a bad idea if it makes communicating too tedious. Also don't add people of you're close to finishing a project.

No, they were absolutely amazing. I've seen less talented people be accepted, anyways, I'm not here to debate your standards, I'll be leaving now.

I am pretty sure village has a better idea to whether or not it would be good to add more ppl to the ct and if it would speed things seing as he IS in the ct .-.
Furthermore i highly doubt that they are close to finishing something huge as they recently released corkus. Also since aparently the ct works on many different projects at the same time it most probably doesnt matter when they get new members because you can just have new members work on things in the far future. (I am assuming that they work on ma y different projects that also lie in the far future based on grian saying in the corkus livestream that they sre always 2 or 3 steps ahead)

I am as aware as the next guy how the CT works. I was just sharing a principle that might be useful knowledge for managers and admins to have if they didn't know already. At what point in my post did I say that what the CT was doing is wrong, a bad idea, or had to be done differently? Never. All I did was point out a potential flaw in their logic. If you think about it, how is that any different than the highly encouraged bug reporting?

 

i never said that you said that the way they do think is bad .-. furthermore the way you said things came across increadibly smartass (imo) and communication is the most important skill for managers and its fundamental to avoid such misunderstandings (if there was one) and thus i would avoid saying things the way you did in the future. Anyways this is getting off topic and we could settle things in a convo XD so shall we get back on topic?

We are aware that communication is important, and that having many people on board might make it difficult. We do have very capable managers in the team, however, and they seem to be doing a great job at handling it and making sure everyone is on the same track.

We have a certain project system in place to reduce the negative sides of having a lot of people. Obviously, we can't just let everyone loose on their own adventureous projects, which is why everything is being supervised and managed by the people who know where to work and what to work on.
