Mage/Dark Wizard Generic Compiler Melee Build (feedbackerinos ‌and ‌stuff ‌please)

update: this is kinda outdated after the nerf to hive master armor
if you managed to come across this build please note that I now recommend Gigabyte over Shatterglass for PvE situations as the extra health and SP will compensate for the need for more SP on the Gaea-Hewn Boots

so like
with the help of some kind forum members and stuff
i made this maybe-meta mage melee build
and maybe needs feedback???? idunno

let's start with the gear first

ｇｅａｒ
main weapon: Compiler (optional: 2 T5+ Earth powders)
secondary/neutral (only necessary if you put T5+ earth on your Compiler): Predposledni or Hive Infused Wand (if you have a spare Master Token)
utility: Bonder (actually, use this as a secondary if your -melee damage on it isn't jack shit)

helmet: Centipede
chestplate: CoI (Chestplate of Ineptitude)
leggings: Vaward
boots: Gaea-Hewn Boots

rings: Prism x2
bracelet: Bovine Cuff
necklace: Shatterglass

now you're going to ask "sorae y the fuk u not using gaia???!??!?!!?"
and to that I say
fuck mythics

but seriously
even though gaia hits really hard
it's expensive as absolute fuck, at least from someone who has never had more than a stack of LE

sure you can use gaia
but then you'll be forced to invest more into strength, making you a bit less defensive
also rip your wallet

compiler is probably the next best thing since garlic bread
even though it swings once every major tf2 update it still hits like a truck
500-700 raw damage is nothing to scoff at
also comes with fixed stats since you run Extremely Annoying Bugged Dungeon 2: Industrial Boogaloo six times to get this monstrosity of a weapon
+20 skill points to each stat, +20% Earth damage, +20% melee damage
already this thing is looking like it's going to deal more damage than jumla's coffee on the "delete forums" button

centipede is basically a must have
even though it has that god awful 60 dex requirement it's basically a must have because of three things
1) attack speed
2) attack speed
3) attack speed
4) +ws, +melee
did I say three things? i meant four
even though this thing absolutely kills your fire defense you'll still have stuff like prisms/gaea hewn to back it up
congratulations! your compiler now swings once every geometry exam period!

chestplate of ineptitude is basically a "you've heard this shit a billion times already"
+melee damage and +attack speed is basically all this thing gives with technically no downsides for melee builds
please don't nerf it again
we love you selvut and salted

vaward is also a staple
gives you a bunch of skill points and melee damage
what you'll mainly be looking for is strength and defense for this build, as well as a bunch of melee damage
also did i say melee damage? i don't think i said melee damage

finally, the bulk of our defenses
gaea hewn boots
and oh man these stats are absolutely overwhelming to look at
essentially
+exploding
+275 defense to Water, Fire, and Earth
requires a dumb intel requirement of 33 but that's probably because this thing was also somewhat geared towards hybrid spell/melee builds
+20% melee damage as well as +15% earth
+exploding
+exploding
+michael bay film

now time for the accessories
prisms
they're cool, they give you sp and defenses
only problem is you have to put 25 into each stat but that's not really a problem since every element is covered in sp requirements on your armor
which technically makes this a rainbow build but you can focus one element to not get called a meta dipshit :^)

bovine cuff
grinding for these will make you a bit of profit, surprisingly
and it's real easy too
a free +strength and melee damage is pretty cool

shatterglass
+melee damage, +strength, and +earth damage
as well as +michael bay movie
however this does kind of nullify the prisms a bit with the defenses
so there are alternative necklaces you can use which I will discuss later

ｓｋｉｌｌ ｐｏｉｎｔｓ
to maximize SP efficiency i will give you a list of what to put on first and what SP to distribute at that current moment
this probably isn't necessary but whatever /shrug
actually it probably is since there are items that give variable sp like vaward and you don't want to be wasting any sp, especially with the dumb centi/prism requirements

1) put on your vaward and CoI, as well as your bovine cuff
CoI isn't going to do anything but Vaward and Bovine Cuff sure will with the sp

2) increase every stat to 25 and no more or less
pro tip: you can right click to add 5 into a stat if you didn't know already like me

3) put on shatterglass
shocker, right? yeah, because shatterglass gives you -defense sp for SOME FUCKING REASON REEEEEE

4) now increase your defense sp to 25 and put on prisms

5) increase sp to comply with centi/gaea hewn (45/60/33/33/30), then put them on

6) put about 15 or so into defense, then spam the rest into strength

7) you should have about 90/60/33/48/30, this will probably change depending on how much you put into def/str and how much sp you already have on your gear

compiler's original attack speed is super slow (.51 hits every second or ~1 hit every 2 seconds)
still feels like an eternity though

now with CoI and centi, you get +4 attack tiers
now your compiler hits at "fast" attack speed (2.6 hits/second)
we're not using spells so that doesn't get counted into the equation

now i did some tests on this poor elf over here
in true scientific test matters we're going to hit her five times
don't sue me for domestic abuse please

Spoiler: damages from 5 hits

if you didn't look at the images because they didn't load or something (why are you even on the wynn forums anyways if your download speed is that bad?), here are the total damage counts
3093 + 52 = 3145 (dunno why it does a random 52 neutral every time for some reason)
2334 + 52 = 2386
3335 + 52 = 3387
4100 + 52= 4152
3209 + 52 = 3261
average from all 5 hits: 3266.2 damage (rounded off to 3266 damage for easier calculations)

now since our compiler, with the hit speed buffs, does 2.6 hits/second, let's do 3266 * 2.6 (since you're going to be doing roughly that amount of damage a hit, 2.6 times a second)
8491.6 damage/second (putting the .2 that was rounded off wouldn't add more than 1 more DPS to the result anyways)
not bad for mage to be honest, especially without any mythics

ｄｅｆｅｎｓｅｓ
short section
centi: -250 fire, +80 thunder, +150 earth
CoI: no defenses
Vaward: no defenses
Gaea Hewn Boots: +275 fire, +275 water, +275 earth

Prism x2: +50 to each (x2), not counting variable defenses
Bovine Cuff: no defenses
Shatterglass: -10 to each

total (again, not counting variable elemental defenses):
465 earth
120 thunder
315 water
65 fire
40 air

it's sorta tanky, except to fire (because of centi REEEEEEEEE) and air (expected from an earth build)
surprisingly weak to thunder even though earth counters thunder

ａｌｔｅｒｎａｔｉｖｅ ｇｅａｒ
i'm going to cover some of the stuff in the main build, as well as some substitutes in this section

first, the secondary/utility weapons
Predposledni (i can't spell this fucking thing without copying/pasting it oml)
reserved for when your earth attacks do jack shit damage
more like a chip damage weapon since it hits really weak (600-700/attack) but really fast (not sure if you can get above Super Fast attack speed? maybe? if you can't why does cancer exist)

Bonder
purely utility (and maybe as your secondary neutral)
+health regen and +mana regen are going to help you in a lot of situations (not being able to sprint while at low mana, needing to regen health quick, etc)
+sp regen allows you to afk less in cities
and apparently it can do 10k meteors but more like 0k with this build

now the substitutes
Infused Hive Wand
it's alright i guess
i wouldn't use it though since
a) you'd have to use another master voucher
b) it's more of a rainbow weapon which really does put some of that damage to waste
c) it already has a fast attack speed so you can fuck off with this being your primary at least with this build
d) it's not as good of a utility, bonder can get 6/4 mana regen unless you just want mana steal, in that case - why tho
so it's only real purpose is a secondary in this build, which is ehh since rip that one master token

Aries
+20 melee, +33 ws, and +13 earth damage, what's not to love about it?
basically i'd only use this if you decide to use the Infused Hive Wand instead of Compiler since Infused Hive has 5 slots for powders and already has a fast attack speed

but then again
you'd have to spend another master token
at least the good side to this is that you wouldn't have that -fire defense but you'd have even less thunder defense as well as earth defense

Bloodlust
I was recently informed of these boots by a player who I met in game, who also happened to run a Compiler melee build
up to +26% melee damage already looks good as well as +15% ws, doesn't it?

yeah it does
but now you have a lot less defense since gaea-hewn boots make up most of your elemental defenses
as well as up to -32% health regen and it's not looking good already

i'd only run this if you want to play more of a glass cannon style, but you MUST ABSOLUTELY have at least +24% melee damage on this thing or else it's not worth the tradeoff

Tisaun's Honor (x2)
another one of those "glass cannon" items
up to +10% melee damage and +7 defense sp
you're substituting some good sp to reduce your sp requirements as well as defense, which is a pretty big downside
you could run prism and tisaun's honor, idunno, do whatever works with you

Planet Healer
i originally had this as my necklace until said player who also introduced me to Bloodlust also told me about Shatterglass
so yeah
this thing

gives you some pretty neato elemental defenses, which can be super useful
also gives you up to 1k poison, which can be useful for finishing off mobs or doing a bit of extra damage
however in terms of burst damage, you'd be better off running shatterglass (especially if you can find someone with max melee damage)
so this is probably the best substitute on this list

BUT WAIT
-26% health regen? now you can die by trying to afk for soul points in cities!
amazing feature!
(to be honest, this is pretty negligible, as long as you don't afk for too long)

On my mage melee, I got 3-4K super fast on Gaia. I considered this shit, and stopped doing mage melee.
Even now, mage melee is just not a good idea. The weapons deal so little damage you have to stack damages. And even then, your defenses will be shit. Which is unacceptable on a melee build.
Mage melee in general is not a good idea. While it certainly works, I feel spell with a good build is better.

also the reason i'm running melee mage is because i want to experiment with different playstyles, even if they're non-meta as fuck
