Having Several Issues With 'memory Paranoia'

I know this isn't technically a question, per se, but as the title suggests, this quest is giving me a lot of trouble and I wondered if anyone here might have some answers. ^-^

So, I had some issues with the quest before this but the main issue started in the battle against Mr. Caritat's remains. I do have a video if anyone wants to see (though, I can't post it "to prevent spam") but essentially I had to kill him around 7 times. Each time I killed him, the quest book wouldn't update and would still tell me I needed to defeat him. If I tried to walk through the rift, I was pushed back and had to defeat him again.

After I killed him the 7th time, I walked through the rift again. The chat message popped up saying something like "The rift pushes you back..." but instead of getting pushed back, I spawned back in the tutorial area - right where you start as a new character. The game's actually making me do the tutorial again, while the quest still gives me the same objective. (Which, I also have evidence of but you know, "spam" c;)

Soooo now that I'm stuck doing the tutorial again, I figured I'd hunt for some solutions before trekking back to the mansion to do the quest all over again. Thanks in advance!

 

when you kill him, he drops an item that you can pick up, after that you talk to the rift and it updates the book. As to the tutorial area... idk

 

Tried this. I ended up with about 7 of the item (a letter, I believe). The final time I tried to go through, it did take one, theeeeen I ended up doing the tutorial. But thank you anyway.

I've made my way back to the mansion and tried speaking to the guy outside just in case but I'm having to repeat all my previous steps to get back to the place I was at. I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced the issue (and possibly had a fix), particularly before I reported it as a bug.

Did you end up back at the tutorial too? That's the only part that seemed overly odd to me. If it had just been an issue with passing through the rift, I would have just left it, particularly as it could have just been a tp issue, but tp'ing back to the tutorial was confusing.

 

I didn't get tped to tutorial but I got tped to sky islands

 

Restart the quest (I mean like do all the cut-scenes etc. Again) To get to the cellar & disable the texture pack so you can see tripwires, so you know what to hit.
