Your Opinion On Archer Vs Other Classes (wall Of Text Incoming)[no, Seriously, It's A Wall Of Text]

After some tweaking with the gear, I'm having fun with archer again.
This thread was very educational. Because of the feedback and tips, I managed to solo Qira and Wybel.

Problem against Qira was that I was using elemental weapons instead of natural ones. So the bad archer experience was simply due to not knowing how the game mechanics worked, and that's on me.

Biggest turning point in archer experience was getting the Hephaestus-Forged Greaves. Those are, IMO, the absolute best leggings archer can wish for. Walk speed, mana steal, health regen and air dmg all compliment archer so well.

I solo'd Wybel 3 times, and to be honest, after I made my desired build, he wasn't much of a challenge, at all. Dmg I'm doing isn't that high, but it's fun, I can spam spells and actually don't die in 1 hit.

I tried using stinger, not sure why is it considered good. For melee? Cause spamming spells with him doesn't work, you can feel the delay in spell execution.

Just a little update. Thanks all for the tips. If it wasn't for this thread and all of the comments, I'd abandon my archer long time ago. Ignis is still collecting dust tho.

 

Stinger has insane base damage... try it vs Qira

 

My problem is, how to use it? Melee or what?
Cause it's too slow for spell spamming. And from what I've heard, melee is bad on archer.

 

well, I keep it as a side weapon, especially for weapons like freedom, that get easily blocked by elemental defense. you can build for it though, its quake damage is INSANE

 

I would say raw spell, it destroys Qira I think

 

Archer is underpowered. I would think it needs damage tweaks, but I think it need an ability change. Like how assasain stopped taking fall and had a small push when they use vanish.

I think they should have a passive for not moving and crouching they allows them to deal more damage like in WoW. This would make tank archer viable, stop the gimick speed build that archer is thought to be, and it might stop making it a run away class.

 

Mage is still the best in my opinion for raw spell, because of Bonder, which allows the use of Gaea-Hewn Boots and Summas without hurting element defenses, regen, or mana.

So yeah, damage isn't everything, but realistically mage is the most adapted for it overall with

I'd say that assassin is better for raw spell damage because assassin's 420% damage and 300% damage multipliers for it's spells are extremely good

 

Eh I'd say that mage has an advantage in compatability with balance between damage, mana, defenses (while not having -regen cough Rewind cough). After all, damage ain't everything.

 

Abilities are definitely strange.
Archer is ranged class, yet 2 of 4 spells are close range ones. Arrow shield does too much dmg for a defensive spell. Not complaining, but objectively, that's not balanced. And arrow storm is useless. 2/3 of the arrows often miss the target and you need to get very close to use it, which is counterintuitive for a class like archer.

 

Arrow shield needs a nerf, I'll agree with that, I use arrow storm for the knock back. Bomb arrow gets much higher dmg tbh.
