Hey, Mantis here. I'm sure that everyone knows that the skill point glitch (aka the eater of items, second only to the IB) claims the sweat, blood, and tears, of players everywhere. To combat this, I'd like to suggest a community - aided system to safeguard your possessions in the event of catastrophe.

    What?
The Wynncraft Insurance protocol would safeguard the value of your items if they are lost to the skillpoint glitch. Players would buy 'stakes' of insurance. These 'stakes' would be at a set amount, with a set amount of return in the event of loss based on the value of the 'stake.'

    How?
Once a stake is bought, the player is guaranteed a certain amount of return in the event of loss. The money from bought stakes are entrusted to a responsible person (to be decided) and returns are paid out by said person. Profit from insurance is not given to person x, and money paid out to unlucky players is from the community pool, not the personal stores of cash of person x.

    Stakes?
To buy a stake, you must contact a person in charge. (either person x, myself, or any other player appointed)
After contacting a person, list the items you would like to insure. The items are recorded down, along with your personal details for verification in the event of a loss.

The value of your stake is determined by the value of your item(s) insured (price is to be appraised by unbiased experts) divided by 10. Your details, along with the total value of your insured items are recorded, and if the skillpoint glitch happens to you, the value of your insured items is paid back. The amount of time your item stays insured is 1 month, after that period you must renew your insurance or forgo the protection offered.

    Example*:
*note that all usernames here are used as examples

@JackyKit wishes to insure his Memestaff9001
    He contacts ElectroMantis
The value of his Memestaff is appraised by @LordMuttonChops @Nyam @Net_Twerk and @motoki1 seperately.
The average price estimated is a grand total of 10 rotten flesh.
JackyKit agrees to pay 1 rotten flesh every month to insure his Memestaff9001.
1 rotten flesh is paid to ElectroMantis, who records evidence of Jacky's payment and value of his stake, and gives the money to @Sohso who puts it in the community pot.
    Everyone is happy
Oh no! Jacky lost his memestaff to the glitch.
Jacky needs to screenshot the glitch in chat, and provide the evidence of this happening to ElectroMantis or GaPoi (Sohso)
Since his item is insured, Jacky recieves his 10 rotten flesh as part of his insurance.
    Yay.

    Q and A
Q: What if people use this insurance method and scam for LE?

A: They'd be paying an additional 1/10 of the value of their item for the 'scam.' It would also be hard for them to transfer their item to someone else as they need evidence of the glitch happenning to qualify for insurance money.

Q: What is the community pot?

A: The cummulation of cash from everyone who opts for insurance. If a person gets glitched, they get their insurance from the community pot. This way, everything is fair. We don't get money, we don't lose money.

Q: Won't the community pot run out of cash?

A: Highly unlikely. The glitch only happens to a handful of people, out of everyone else who opts for insurance. If this does happen, however, an insured item will be paid for in some other form.

Q: How do we know the 'responsible person' isn't siphoning funds from the pot?

A: The 'responsible person' will be responsible. Someone like a moderator will be chosen.

Q: Is Jumla to be blamed for the glitch?

A: Probably. I heard he spilled his tea over the server router.

    Pros and Cons:

    P

Makes sure you don't just die if an extremely important item is lost
Allows for a sense of security with minimal money lost
    A potential moneysink, combating inflation
Allows for a more formal and controlled approach to helping victims of the glitch, instead of random donations.

    C
If everyone suddenly loses their items to the glitch in a seriously detrimental stroke of bad luck, the community pot may not be able to compensate.

    Current positions:*

    People to contact:
    ElectroMantis

    Banker:
    ???
*This idea is not in yet, and will only be implemented if the community allows

Note that this isn't in general suggestions as no gameplay mechanic needs to be changed, and this is a community based idea.

Nice idea. Albeit this is certainly a beneficial system to implement, either not enough people participate due to the cost, which results in a rather empty community pot, or a ton of people participate, leading to an extremely tedious recording system and having to periodically remind players should their insurance period be approaching to an end.

Actually they are getting 9/10 of the value of their item for the 'scam' as revenue. Say I insure my 20LE Memento for 2LE, then fake the glitch with Photoshop or some other method (such as going out of their way to set up an identical Detlas Bank in Singleplayer then using tellraw to fake the in-game messages), then I get 20LE back as insurance, I keep my Memento and gain a net profit of 18LE.

It is unreasonable to request for video evidence, as only a small handful of people actually has access to recording programs, let alone uploading platform.

Can't rely on the morals of players either, since it is inevitable for people to take advantage of this system out of greed.

In order for this idea to work, it requires close supervision of all clients by Moderators with the ability to check individual inventories, which is, unarguably, an unnecessary addition of workload as well as being almost humanly impossible. Not to mention players can set up alts or sell the item to strangers beforehand, making them even harder to track.

All in all this is a good idea purely for the better of the community, however major flaws in the system needs to be fleshed out in order for it to work.

This seems a little too advanced for a minecraft mmorpg, plus emeralds and LE are a tangible currency. Emeralds aren't just some fancible number in the middle right of your screen

This could work, though I'm skeptical about how well they could track people's stuff over time and prevent scamming.

Video evidence is not required, just a screenshot with the text 'item requires x amount of sp' in chat, along with at least 1 other player confirmation (players that were on site and saw you screaming about the glitch) (if no players were on site you need to prove so; the screenshot should also include your general surroundings)
And they'd be losing 1/10 LE, since they'd need to give up their item to circumvent our system (we'll try to get a mod to invsee?) (or maybe we could get a legal qualification for a invsee hacked client?)
And yeah, systems for recording down players would be tedious, but we're wynncraft players; we don't have a life anyways ;)

The skill point glitch can happen to anyone at any time. Even though it is wise to keep at least 8 slots open, it's very easy for anyone to forgot that while say grinding or questing. This especially applies to new players who don't know about the glitch in the first place.
