Search the forums for what you've found. If there's a post that fits it and has a sizable amount of views, or many posts about it, don't post it. If not, good job finding something new!

A better message: there's always somebody who found it before you. Even if that person has to be the one who made it.

Have no problem with people who found something.
I'm not here 24/7, I miss many 1st time discovered things, so when someone shares something that's already been found, it's my 1st time seeing it.
Heck, I just recently saw how the rest of the runes look like even though it's been found before. Hard to search for it cause I didn't even know there are more runes.

(Only the peoples who were a lot on the forum during the search will understand this.)

 

It's more like this:

If you think you've found something new, you haven't.

 

While that's fine for "larger" eastereggs or really obvious stuff, I feel like it might be too harsh to condemn someone posting their discovery of minor details.
Leaving the thread instead of always pointing out that it's been found before often is the better choice, and if you have to, please do it in a polite way / compliment them on their discovery first.
Not all players regularly use the forums or keep in touch with the community.

 

Would also be cool if people weren't such jerks to people who post something that's been found already. Being rude about it doesn't make you any better, and a rude reply sure ain't a better post than a find that's been found before.

If I had a dollar for every time I've seen someone post something like this...

 

I think it's actually worse when people say "niec find.avi" "already been found" "use the search bar next time" "why dont you know how to use these forums that you've probably never been on?"

It discourages people from sharing their findings and being excited about finding something, just because someone else has found something doesn't mean that everyone else has.

 

Oh boy we gotta sticky this one. Like others are saying, I think that when people are so thrilled about finding something to the point of making a thread about, it's just not to shoot them down with a "been found before. Like a million years ago". Personally if I was in that position, I'd just say good job and move on. No point in raining on their parade.

 

Nah, a mod can make a better thread and sticky that. (Not saying this thread is bad, but a more detailed thread can always do.)
