Why Dern Might Come Before Fruma

Look, I'm just going to spitball an idea. I have finals coming up soon so I don't have time to research or support my claims with facts. Sue me.

Here's my idea: What if it was the actions of the Fruman monarchy that caused Dern to be the dark land it is now? We know that the Queen of Fruma has ridiculously powerful magic in that she can wipe the minds of all who leave her province, so the idea that she could lay a curse on an entire province is already proven.

Today I propose that the final boss - the ultimate evil in all 3 provinces - is NOT in Dern, but in Fruma! This would mean that it would make sense for Fruma to come after Dern. But who is this evil final boss?

My idea is that the Queen, cursed Dern to become the land of darkness that it is. Whether it was to make an example of the Dernic people, to obliterate a rival population, or whatever idk.

However, that then brings up the question: who or what is the Eye? If it's the Queen of Fruma who is causing the darkness in Dern, then where does this mythical deity-like beast fit in? What is it that Bob went on a suicide mission to stop?

I believe this "Eye" entity to be none other than the Queen herself. The Eye sees all, and so does the Fruman government. The Eye is extremely powerful, and so is the Queen. The Eye can cause darkness, and I believe that's what the Queen has done.

Back to Bob - I believe he went to go fight the Queen and imprison her, not some monster, with his very essence.

That's about all I have time to write. Maybe @SPYROHAWK and the other self-proclaimed Grand Theorists can flesh this out, disprove it, or do whatever they want with the idea. Just credit me.

 

Suing you, because the very first idea is wrong. More than that, though, why would the Queen do that? She closed borders because she was afraid of the darkness and corruption happening outside of Fruma; why would that be, if she controlled it? It has no benefits. Furthermore, what reason would she have to do so in the first place? It doesn't help her in any way.

Hey, that's actually a good theory. BUT you need evidence. Don't do what I did and say things could be the case "just because". I know finals are big and all, but once they are done I want you to look into this too.

Also the grand theorists kind of dissolved, no point bringing them up. A new theory group may be forming, but that's up in the air.

 

1. Just because you create something doesn't mean you control it. Look at Frankenstein.
2. She, being the power crazy Queen that she seems to be, could have been making an example of some rebels in a pre-darkness Dern.
3. Once her punishment of the Dernic people got out of hand and she lost control, then she closed her borders to hide from her own mistakes.

 

Your basis of two and three don't make any sense... The Fruman Queen has no jurisdiction over Dern, nor would she have any reason to a) attack dern in any way, shape, or form, or b) use the darkness to do such. Especially not if it's something she wasn't sure she could control.

While you're right on the first point, it's illogical to say she would then use that creation. You can't tell me that the darkness somehow leaped over Wynn and purposefully only attacked Dern with absolutely no evidence.

That leads me to my next point; this theory is practically a conspiracy theory. It has next to no evidence, and is the equivalent of writing fan fiction. Hell, you've even included the Eye of Wynn, something we've got almost no knowledge of.

 

Moving past the obvious how this doesn't point to why Dern will come out earlier

Here is the real reason Dern will come out first.

but why dern? Why didnt she eat wynn or gavel, or Corkus? What did dern do? Also, the villagers whisper of dern being the origin of evil, and villagers are smart, so your theory doesnt match lore.

 

Look, this was a crackpot theory I had that just shat itself into my head. If it ends up being right, great! If not, I really couldn't care less. This was just a brain-dump on a possibility. Make of it whatever you want.
