So, I was doing my average grind run, when I got an in-game automated message. It told me that you earn "much more" XP from killing mobs close to your level. Now, I grind on things quite a bit higher than my current level, because it gives me a lot of XP. Is it true that if I grind on things closer to my level that I will get more XP than I will grinding on things higher level than me or does this only apply to grinding on lower levels?

 

Yes, pretty sure.

 

For every level difference you loose 3% of the XP.
It used to be 3% to get 0 XP per difference in level

This is how this works:
From what i know from ToL:
Lv. 70 trainers being killed by a level 70 player: around 800 XP
Lv. 70 trainers being killed by a level 80-90 player: around 100-400
So its true, what doesnt vary is the range of XP obtained on every level, which is from 0 - [Max XP possible on that mob] so it may be better to grind on a higher level mob if you think you receive more xp from it

 

You should grind mobs AROUND your level. You didn't specify how much higher the mobs' levels were. If you're a level 40 and you're grinding level 55s, you'll still get good XP. If you're level 40 and grinding level 70s (somehow) then you'll start to get not much XP at all.

 

Can confirm. This means that you want to grind mobs that are around your level, but you don't want to sacrifice better mobs just for a difference of a few levels.
