Challenging Riddle/puzzle I Made

In Antarctica Zulgyl lived, for 20 years in a temperature of 8 degrees.
Everybody around knew how talented Zulgyl was, speaking 18 languages!
He had his alien friends, in which he numbered 4 through 0, much easier than their names.
Strangely, the friend’s were named Fihs, Nerap, Ehtt, Igs’t, and Ybgniv.
Being all down in Antarctica, they watched Zulgyl’s 23 years of success.
Far away, up near the equator, people heard how Zulgyl had 15 skills.
Never going backwards, in 18 years he mastered all there was to master, but one.
Zulgyl attempted and always failed at this profession, for 4 years!
One year, all tired of trying but always failing, Zulgyl quit, but his legacy didn’t.
An all-around achiever, whose lucky number was six.

But… one question still remained: What profession did Zulgyl fail at?

The answer can be derived from the text in between the lines only, and scratch paper may help you.
And please don't spoil the answer or ANY clues in a reply for others if you know it.

I suggest you go through and double check your paragraph because i have found a few errors

I think you need to add a 9 in between 8 and 18
