Unused Structure Over Molten Heights?

So I was exploring the top layer of the heights a few hours ago and found a large structure with an inactive portal. I don't know what it is or what purpose it serves (or could serve). There is the Green Powder VI relic nearby. Just head to down that path to the right shown in the first screenshot.

been found so many times, but I noticed there was a fire/ice flag above the portal. Not really sure what it's supposed to be

Considering its gigantic and completely isolated and easily seen on the map, there are lots of threads about this

I never visited that place before, but I bet that one of quests from main storyline would appear here in future

 

The main storyline is for Wynn, not Gavel. Molten Heights storyline is what you're looking for :P

 

Really? I through that it was main storyline that takes in Wynn AND Gavel.

 

Nope, IIRC it was stated to only be for Wynn and possibly the Ocean.

What? The storyline starts in Wynn, yes, but it journeys through the provinces and ends in Dern, as far as we know. Past that, it's unknown. Since Dern seems to be the origin of all the dark shit in the world, it's possible that's where the final boss of the story is.

 

I'm not 100% sure, but I have heard that the area you found above the Molten Heights was going to be used for a quest. But, like several other quests (such as the "Two Towers" quest), it never got finished because either the person making it quit or it was deemed unacceptable for official release.

Honestly, I think some of these unfinished quests and their structures should be revived, as it is mentioned in lore-based quests (the Forest Guardian mentions the Two Towers and the Dwarf-Dogun war in Finding the Light). It just seems weird to have this fiery landscape with two tower ruins, but nothing within it that stands out. The same applies to this portal/temple structure, as for its size you would think it's important, but there is absolutely nothing to see there except a ton of tough mobs and really tall ruins...
