I remember hearing a tripwire in a cave with a big vault door in/very close to the canyon bandit camp.

 

Same, I walked on every block near the Nether Portal, if it's really there, it's well hidden (Or broken).

 

I belive you can get to the starting area, by dying on the s.s. seaskipper. Atleast I have heard so, you might be able to check it if you do.
(I ones saw a lvl56 warrior there when i started a new class, so atleast it should be possible, somehow)

Ok I have some ideas for some of the southern places in wynn:

-Troms (mayby the hidden lab above the training dummies)
-ToL
-ToA
-The great bridge
-Jungle village
-Dernal jungle (dernal jungle allreaddy have alot of secrets, mayby it has more?)
-This temple on the other side of troms (its here on the map)
-The little wood house, and surrounding area (behind the door of time)
-Pigman ravine
-Creeper hideout
-Mayby this mansion (here in the dernal jungle)

 

Well some of them sometimes don't work

 

Perhaps it's in the Nether? Is that even programmable?

Alternatively, it's not Nether Portal and it's actually something else starting with N and ending with L, like NOT HERE LOLOL (ok but seriously if i figure something out i'll edit this post)

 

According to the wiki, we have a few locations that start with N.

I found a Potato Storage near the Nether Poral (Under the bridge of it actually) But I don't think it's what we are trying to find...
