Say, if you have a time machine that could bring you to any point, any place, and any time in the past, and you are provided with this dilemma: Would You Kill Baby Hitler or Not Kill Baby Hitler?

    Discuss.

I wouldn't, because as ganon mentioned, paradoxes yo
And killing would put me one level closer to his level of degeneracy, so even if it meant I could save the lives of millions in that moment, something equally terrible might happen because of my actions.

Aside from killing him even if you changed his mind that would create a paradox.

While they were horrid, messing with events as large as that in the timeline can cause unknown problems

    There's no point, really.

Logically, if you went back in time to kill Hitler, the timeline would still be the same. Because earlier in the timeline, you already had killed Hitler. Nothing would change, therefore rendering the action useless. It's a loop within a loop.

Absolutely not. It may seem good, but it will likely cause all sorts of anomalies.

For example, the earth can sustain approximately 10 billion people. We currently have almost 7.5 billion, leaving us with 2.5 billion. People are born surprisingly quickly, so who knows how much larger the population would be now had the holocaust not happened. It could very well have reached the 10 billion limit, or at least be getting close.

Hence, killing baby Hitler could potentially cause the population to increase beyond the limit that the Earth can sustain. Even if you don't cease to exist from the change directly, you could die from a lack of resources and stuff like that instead.

    I'd really want to.

.....But it's probably not the best idea, so no.

    Here's a few reasons why:
    1. Butterfly effect and whatnot
    2. History itself would be changed. so everything we learned from WW2 and onward would be rendered null and void.
    3. That includes things like The Cold War, The Space Race, The Internet, Vietnam, the separation of Korea into North and South Korea, Modern Technology, and various other things.
    4. Not to mention the moral implications of just straight up killing a baby that hasn't even technically done anything wrong yet. I mean it's still just a defenseless baby.
    5. WW2 was a HUGE lesson to the world on how Fascism and Eugenics are just straight up a bad idea.
    6. It also showed the world how devastating the atomic bomb could be.
    7. I mean, it's still entirely possible that history would end up almost the same. Hitler was still a human being after all. Someone else probably would have done something similar eventually.
    8. It's called "World War" for a reason. Just taking Hitler out of the picture wouldn't have prevented it from happening (I mean, it would have prevented a LOT of people from dying, but who knows how that would change the outcome of the war, heck, maybe even humanity itself.)
    9. With every major obstacle that humanity faces, we only come back from it stronger, if you just go back in time and 'fix' everything, how do you expect society to learn and mature? How would we know that something is really messed up if we just went back in time and erased it from existence? It's like sheltering a kid from every possible harmful thing and then throwing them into adulthood, completely unprepared. It's a nightmare scenario.

Realistically, going back in time and changing ANYTHING is just a bad idea.

Especially with important people in history.

...That doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to go back in time and do that though.

I'm just saying that logically, it's probably best not to mess with history. No matter how good your intentions are.

(I mean, to be fair I'm not really that well versed in history myself, so i probably shouldn't be the one saying this.)

(I felt really stupid typing this)

I've got no clue where you're getting this number, since the entire population of the earth can comfortably fit within the space of the USA.

Also it wasnt even hitler who influenced his own tyranny. He was a SOCIOPATH, not a psychopath. Psychopaths are genetic, his reign was influenced by his childhood.

To be honest, even if Hitler didn't step up to power (and remained a homeless nobody on the street), 6 million Jews and undesirables would still have been terminated, albeit not in the same manner or perhaps the same extent. Anyhow, someone would still have stepped in to be the Chanceller of Germany, some Anti-Semitic bastard from the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP/Nazi Party) and proceeded with the extermination of the Jewish community and other undesirables. Josef Goebbels would still have been there and done tonnes of shit with propoganda, etc...
So yeah, killing him would kinda be pointless except it would probably fuck up the current present world.

Based on food resources, yes. Food resources is something that can be solved through science though, and probably won't be the deciding factor in humanity's extinction.
