Lucid Dreaming

so yeah, before you ask "Oryx is this one of your shitpost-but-not-at-the-same-time posts", yes i dont even know why i made this thread
i just wanna know your experience with lucid dreaming

if you dont know what lucid dreaming is, basically when someone becomes conscious that they are in a dream, they have the ability to bend their dream to their will. Basically once you have a lucid dream you basically have your own playground where you can fire RPGs at your math teacher or ask out your crush
totally did not do those two things in my last lucid dream

Anyway, i wanted to know what you guys remember from your lucid dreams
I probably made this because i just had another lucid dream yesterday (first one that I knew you could bend lucid dreams to your will, second one i remember in my lifetime)
so ill describe to you these lucid dreams

Spoiler: This happened when i was like 7

so basically i had a dream when i was seven about some zombie outbreak that happened (i was seven dont judge me) and basically i see my parents as zombies
but i was like "wait but zombies dont exist wtf" and i realized i was dreaming
but all the sudden the zombies wanted to kill me and me only so i was like "pls pls help me i wanna get out of here" and all the sudden i was invisible.

This was before i had any idea what lucid dreaming was.

Spoiler: the meta lucid dream

So now fast forward to about 3-4 months ago leafy (yes i watch some of leafy's videos) uploaded a video on lucid dreaming (pretty sure he deleted it)

and this got me interested in lucid dreaming. So just last night (as of posting this) I got into a dream and then somehow I fucking started dreaming
INSIDE OF THE DAMN DREAM
then guess what happened
I DREAM INSIDE THAT DREAM
and this happens about 5 times and im like "yo this has to be a dream" so then I try and like summon a potato or something and it worked, so i was like "YAS" and this was the first time I knew about lucid dreaming, so first off I blow up my school with fireballs and RPGs and then I ask out my crush- actually scratch that NOTHING TO SEE HERE

So basically then I woke up out of every dream and then somehow im no longer lucid in the dream i went to sleep in, then waking up about 10 seconds later. That was the most meta dream of any dream ever.

What a night.

so please tell me what has happened when you have been lucid in your dreaming

I wasnt sure i was dreaming and it was confusing, all these people with different personalities came one by one, some where nice to me and some werent

When they where done i woke up only to find another character and it was just this endless loop but then i woke up

There was also this one time i was on mars lying on the ground unable to move and my sister was fucking with my eyes opening them while i was sleeping so i still was in the dream but sometimes i saw flashes of light which explains my asshole sister disturbing my drean

 

Only once, about a month or two ago I think
Since it's mostly flying people talk about when they talk about being able to control it, that's what I did for 20 seconds then I woke up

Sleep paralysis is a different story tho

 

I've only experienced lucid dreaming once and I used a very smart trick where I held my hand over my nose and mouth in the dream but I could still dream which felt amazing. (Pinching my arm didn't work to check if I'm dreaming.)

Whenever I fly in a dream that's also really cool but then I'm not lucid dreaming.

 

I never had a lucid dream I must experience one

 

Just as a warning, a side effect of lucid dreaming is it is often paired with sleep paralysis, so do so at your own risk.
EDIT: also, if you realise you are lucid dream the first thing you will want to do is sit down and stay calm, cause often the excitement of realization wakes you up

Every time I realize I'm in a dream I wake up in a few seconds. It's honestly bullshit. Fuck you, brain.

I am very lucky. I usually have lucid dreams several times a week. From being able to continue a dream from the last night, to changing what I dream. Obviously, not all aspects can be controlled, but it is still cool to control a majority of things. Lol sometimes I dream about me playing wynncraft.

 

AHAHAH SOMEONE MENTIONED IT NOW I CAN TALK ABOUT IT

A few weeks back, I had an episode of Sleep Paralysis.
I'm not saying it to seem cooler () but I actually wasn't scared.
At the time, I was super confused. I'm moving my hand- but my hand is not moving?
I'm opening my eyes- but my eyes are not opening?
At this point it dawned on me what was happening.

Now, I'm a rational person. I can control what I feel, and I don't feel emotions if I don't have to.
I relaxed my body, and at this point I heard my mom coming in through the door.
This was a hallucination (one of the side affects of sleep paralysis); when I woke up immediately afterwards, it was 6:30 am and my parents were fast asleep.

Anyway, that's my story. What's yours?

 

Probably my most intriguing lucid dream was a month back, after a long period of poor sleep. To give some context to my recollections of the details in this dream, I keep a dream journal.

Now anyone who knows me well enough knows, to at least some degree, that I have very severe issues with getting consistent and restful sleep. This results in a lot of periods of me sitting in my bed staring at the ceiling, in total darkness, until I start to see things. After a while of exhausting mindfuckery, I doze off for a few hours only to wake up again.

However on this particular night, I fell asleep right away. Or rather, I started to dream as soon as I fell asleep.

Now the dream went as many go. I was in a situation where I didn't know what was going on, and it felt like one of the spear exaggerated drug trips in a movie. I was moving somewhere, and after some period of time, I became aware that this was all by my own doing.

With this newfound knowledge that I was in control of my body, I proceeded to stop moving, and turn around. I was faced with a rather large Dr. Seuss styled kingdom in front of me. Picture Bartholemew and the Oobleck for the imagery.

I walk forwards, until I'm surrounded by two dimensional masks of everything. There are no people I can see, and not even my footsteps make sounds. Naturally upon noticing that, I tap a wall, and it feels like wood, despite being clearly illustrated as stone. I run my hand along it, and keep looking at it, until I realize that everything to my right and left was simply a singular wall. Yet, if this is a corridor, there is a clear end in sight, being where the road splits off before the castle. Surely this isn't a dead end?

I trudge on for some time, and reach the final destination, only to see, indeed it is a dead end. It was just a path to a wall. No grand reveal that this was all an elaborate trick, or that this was part of a maze-like system of painted walls. No, it was just a wall. I turn around, heart broken, to see that I am face to face with another wall.

This development seems nothing out of the ordinary given that something like this happened once already. I proceed to do a full 360, concluding I trapped in a square of walls. However, with my astute observational skills that could never be rivaled by any ordinary human being, I can see that the wall is indeed, only a bit taller than I am. Certainly this observation qualifies me for some sort of award, does it not?

All postulation and ego-inflation out of the way, I cast off my shackles that are the walls, and reach up, grasping the top, and I throw myself over. At this point, instead of forming out what happens, I awoke to find that it was rather stormy outside that morning.

 

i'm pretty sure if you were able to open your eyes, you'd've seen somethimg horrifying, like everyone else I know who suffers from it.

Another funny story about dreaming:
So pretty much there is chain fence separating two neighbor hoods, mine and another one.
Back when I had this dream I was not allowed to hop the fence...
So this HUGE monster was chasing me... and he cornered me in the fence and my only escape was over the fence... yet I didn't because I wasn't allowed to....

WWHAT DIES THIS MEAN

 

I've heard you can train yourself to lucid dream all the time, but I've also heard that doing it too often can result in you forgetting the difference between reality and dream... you know, insanity. I'm not sure if this is true though.

My brother once had a lucid dream where he was just like "wait a minute, this is a dream!" then turned his arm into an arm cannon... I don't remember why he needed an arm cannon, but he did it.

With my own dreams, almost all of them are sort of half lucid; I almost always dream in the third person and have control much like a video game... it's weird, but it makes dream extra fun.

Once, I had a dream where the sun turned into a black hole, and my family and I had to get to a spaceship to escape. We packed, but we were too slow, and we died with the earth. Then a big "Game over" appeared and the dream started over. The ending was slightly different, because I had finished packing and was on my way out when the world ended. The same "game over" and then a third time. The third time we made it, but as we were on a boat to get to the spaceship, a super hero (strangely, it was the father of Calvin in Calvin and Hobbes wearing a costume) was pushing the black-hole through the water right next to us, and it did nothing to the ocean or us or anything. Then I woke up. I have really strange dreams quite often.

 

That sounds an awful lot like what happened to me a while back.
Besides the part with the hallucination, you've basically described my everyday process of waking up.

Yeah.. I know I'm a weird guy.

 

I believe there were three occurrences for me

1. I was in a store, a big supermarket, And I was going to buy a soda-machine, and I learned I did NOT have enough money for it, which I found weird... Because for one, Why the heck am I buying a soda machine, and 2, I am smart enough to know that if I were to buy one, I would have the money needed. So, literally what I did next, was Pull out a stack of quarters to pay for the thing, And that made me Know I was in a dream. The next thing I did, was start walking around the Supermarket, summoning things, and people at my will, I summoned a tank because I could, My family: Bam, there. I basically bought anything I ever wanted in this Market. Then I woke up, and was disappointed to find I was poor again.

2. This was a weird one, My family were like Royalty, Higher-ups, and I started walking around the castle, like some Snoddy prince, saying I controlled everything (I knew I was in a dream the moment I got there) Its weird because, the more I walked and trodded on, the harder it was getting, Sure enough, my Parents got tired of me, and exiled me, and what I literally did, was turn around, walk back into the castle, and go to my sister and slap her (I am such a good person) after that, I think they took away all my power, and I woke up (I would imagine Prison would have been next)

3. This is a very strange one: I passed out in the middle of the day once, and found myself in a dream, In which I was as tired as I was irl, so I passed out again (In the same spot) And woke up inside the 3rd dream, Dream-ception. I began to get up (I had the tiredness from the preceding dreams, So when I got up from where I passed out, I found it insanely hard to walk, like a force was pulling me down. I walked around the room I was in (And in the dream before this one, I could hear noises, Its like I was in all of these at once, but only allowed to see the third, that room was well let, this one was darker) I did a lap or two around the room, and went back to where my "character" was, Because I could see myself dreaming (Imagine that I kinda had a spiritual walk) I took on the form, Forced myself to wake up, to find out what was happening. It brought me back to the second dream, and I could see that people were here, like a party type thing, and that began to make me think I should force myself to wake up in First-World me (real world) And I woke up, and found everything, all of that gone. It was still the dark room I passed out in...
To see all those people disappear like that was really, really weird.

There was a book I read a while back, that had this kid who could Lucid-dream all the time, and that was literally the plot... The name was DreamRider, I think.

You know what, In my dreams, I usually sit there in a type of 3rd person stasis, and "watch" but affect it slightly, I can see my brain process decisions while there, but even then, the dream rules me For example, I had this very unpleasant dream where I was a type of Commander for an army, and I was at war with some guy, and I kept losing, So for the deciding battle, I was angry at this person by then, and what I did was literally march past the army, overshot the commander, and what came out was I saw him shooting at me, I dodged 3 of the bullets, Then a fourth one Hit me, straight center in the forehead, and I could feel myself collapse, Like... by now, this was true fear. What made it worse, was I wasn't taken out of the dream because I "died" No, I watched myself there for what felt like forever, Imaging the Blood Lose, and I could feel myself feel weak inside... Was not fun at all.

Btw Lucid means Clear (this counts, right?)
