When Does Wynncraft Take Place?

I find it very possible for the sentient beings to be able to produce these half tech, half magic vehicles as so far as we know on this map, they haven't set up an industrial factory (besides the iron golem factory) nor have any type of mass communication system that allows for massive trade that would be ideal for mass transportation of materials and goods between each province for enough materials which can be used in assembly lines. With the attitudes like Fruma's isolationism that causes a cut off communication with humans, they have rarely any tech while the villagers have much of the high tech gadgets and tools, simply because of communication and resources, Corkus and Gavel have the necessary knowledge and materials along with the machines to transport them. While in Wynn it's quite the opposite as look at the economy in Wynn, they have 4 cities that prosper and thrive with towns scattered between, however much of it is centered in Alumj. Troms is another large city that can compete well in terms of economy but since it's a monarchy, most of their treasury belongs to the Royal family. Along with the lesser economy the war against the undead had devastated the Wynn province with the consent threat of war so they can't always focus more on academics. On the other hand Gavel has three large cities that can be seen as wealthy, Llevigar, Cinfras, and Rodoroc, these massive cities with all their grandness can be evidence of their economy being very stable, plus much of the magic we players know has originated from the Villagers whom gave it to us as the humans were migrating from Fruma which clearly shows how developed they were from us early on and to present. Also one thing from the lore that I remember is that many of the miners in Wynn were killed during the accidental excavation of the Nether portal which cuts off the materials which would be needed to manufacture anything that Gavel has produced, speaking of excavation remember how the Wynncavation controls the Wynn province behind the scenes? That could be another possible reason why the Wynn province could be behind in technological development, as a way to keep the people in check.

Why there is a split it technological development

Gavel:
Good trade and economy
Plentiful Knowledge within province
Enough materials for manufacturing and with the tools to transport them
Good for an industrial revolution
Wynn:
Economy central around Alumj and Troms
Knowledge derives from Gavel, also lack of communication between Gavel and Wynn
Ravaged by War with the Undead
Conspiracy by a "secret society"
Not quite able to go through an industrial revolution

P.s for the biplane thing
obviously Wynn nobles can get access to Gavel Tech, but just them. The normal or poorer citizens are unable to access them, it's like the history of the car before Henry ford came into the picture.

My opinion on timeline:

Wynn takes place in the future.
Its quite possible that some event caused modern infrastructure and tech to disapear, thus the tech reverting back to medieval times. Though some remains...

Its not known what is the true timeline is so it's possible, just not really plausible
but who knows?

 

Ye.. Like if the villigars took that long to get to wynn, their tech should be way more advanced than before villiger arrival.. but it seems they still have the same tech...

If I had to guess, I'd have to say medieval times, mainly based on the fact that literally every single building has a medieval style of architecture, and back in those days, people heavily believed in the existence and importance of magic, which is obviously a rather large feature of Wynncraft.

 

There's nothing to suggest that Wynn takes place on Earth or even on a timeline of Earth.

Wynn is really its own timeline and you should see it as such. It has some technology but it also has magic and the technology isn't overtaking every city only a few and only some are really advanced.

I like to think that they could have the technology that we have today (or ahead of today), but because magic is simply more convenient they use it instead. Alternatively, the war against the corruption could have wiped out all the advanced technology, and forced them to reset in a way

 

Well, yeah, I guess the robots and stuff are more advanced, however that is mostly magic, and what I meant was that it's not like modern, or futuristic, it's steampunk.

I've always liked to think that WynnCraft takes places on Earth a few hundread years after a nuclear war. All was destroyed and only a few survived. All the magic and the creatures are a resault of radioative mutation. All the modern stuff that we see (the powerplant, the tech from ???) could be what the people of the new worls found from the ruins of the old world.

But it's just a crazy little theory of mine.

 

Maybe not plausible, but interesting none the less
