Is This Normal, Have I Run Into A Glitch?

On the wiki site, for the wynn excavations quests it says you're supposed to receive 2 crystals at the end, the first time I did it (site A) I only received one but thought this might be normal. On the second one (site B) the same thing happened but this time considering the hint of the excavator I think I'm gonna need them at the end. Should I have received 2 both times and have been allowed to keep 1?

 

You only need 1 crystal.

 

So I won't need them later on?

 

you only need the one quest item later.

 

You used to get 2 shards but it got changed, the wiki is outdated.
