Guide Everything About Damage And Defense

    This thread is ment to find and test the mechanics and math behind damage.

    There are 4 types of damage.
    • Neutral damage- the min and max damage that is displayed on your weapon. Melee and Spell percent damage will effect this.
    • The five elements- the min and max damage that is displayed on your weapon. Melee, Spell, and the element percent damage will effect this.
    • Raw damage- Melee and spell damage displayed on armor and weapons. This ignores all types of defense except agility.
    • Poison damage- damage dealt once every second for 3 seconds, displayed on armor and weapons. Ignores all types of defense.
    There are 4 types of defense
    • Defense- skill points, the percentage of resistance is displayed on your compass menu
    • Agility- skill points, the percentage of dodge is displayed on your compass menu
    • Element defense- the element defense displayed on armor
    • Element percent defense- the percent element defense displayed on armor and weapons.

    Currently, the correct way to calculate damage is unknown, so here are some ways that it could be calculated. I would appreciate it if you could help test these formulas.

    Element damage is effected by both the percent spell or melee damage, as well as the percent damage of the specific element.

    Element defense (the colored numbers on armor) is effected by percent element defense. This total is then subtracted from an attack that you would be taking. If you have over 100% defense in one element, your element defense would then be doubled for that element. The total element defense show on your compass is glitched. If you wear a morph stardust. the element defense for fire reads 500, when it is suppose to be 100.

    Each formula must be done twice for the min and max damage.

    [Int]- reduce mana percent and water damage, the intelligence skill
    [Def]- percent resistance, the defense skill
    [Agi]- percent dodge, the agility skill
    [N]- neutral damage
    [N%s]- percent spell damage
    [N%m]- percent melee damage
    [Ea]- earth damage
    [Ea%]- percent earth damage
    [Th]- thunder damage
    [Th%]- percent thunder damage
    [Wa]- water damage
    [Wa%]- percent water damage
    [Fi]- fire damage
    [Fi%]- percent fire damage
    [Ai]- air damage
    [Ai%]- percent air damage
    [Rs]- raw spell damage
    [Rm]- raw melee damage
    [P]- poison damage
    [M]- additional modifiers (powder ability)
    [Sp]- spell multiplier

    Target stats
    [DefD]- percent resistance, the defense skill
    [AgiD]- percent dodge, the agility skill
    [EaD]- earth defense
    [EaD%]- earth defense percent
    [ThD]- thunder defense
    [ThD%]- thunder defense percent
    [WaD]- water defense

    Spells:

    (Tier)(Damage)(Spell + %SD)+SD
    Tier- Attack speed multiplier, you should know these. Super slow is 0.5, very slow is 0.7, etc
    Damage- base damage of the weapon. Do the formula with max and min
    Spell- the spell you use's damage. (Ex: Arrow Bomb has 250%)
    %SD- %spell damage your gear gives
    sD- raw spell damage your gear gives

    And then thats when you put in skill point elemental multipliers and stuff

    Has anyone confirmed that the damage reduction from [Def] is removed before raw damage is added?

    This would make raw damage a silver bullet. Anyone tried a raw damage focused build to test that out?

    raw damage does damage as long as it hits
    so raw melee/spell are very powerful against tanky builds that can't dodge anything

    I think they removed the attack speed multiplier in one of the updates, although I am not sure. Also, I know that the skill points effect the element damage, but I don't know how much.

    What are you taking about there is no way it adds %SD it multiplies it by (1+%SD) to equal
    (Tier)(Damage)(Spell*(1+%SD)+SD

    If you put on a piece of equipment which increases or decreases all five elemental defences evenly by x, this is how it always turns out

    Earth 3x
    Thunder x
    Water 4x
    Fire 5x
    Air 2x

    How this works is some mystery..

    They removed an unintentional feature that made +tier attack speed affect that.

    The "Spell" is a percent (arrow bomb = 250%)
    The %SD is a percent (lets say you have +30% on your gear)
    250% + 30% = 280% = 2.8

    So that term in the equation turns into x2.8, simple enough, and thats how it works

    the answer's real simple: it doesn't. specifically, the armor menu doesn't work and displays elemental defense values incorrectly. easy way to see this: equip any armor piece of the morph set. the issue becomes clear almost immediately. it multiplies certain values by certain integers when it shouldn't.

    also, while we're on that subject, the weapon damage menu doesn't take powders into account, and the stats menu doesn't apply the id's of your current weapon unless you click the compass as you switch to it from the desired weapon.

    why they haven't fixed it...now that's the real mystery...

    Close, but it is ×3.8, add one to the multiplier. I am doing more tests before I added stuff in about spells.

    No I did some light testing and that is not the results I got. Although real testing would take some time, the results where in my favor of multiplication and not addition. Also you can't use any 100% spell damage spells, because that would end up being correct for both of our claims. Do you have recorded proof of you being correct? Otherwise it would seem that 30% spell damage on a 250% Bomb arrow = 325% damage and not 280% like you say.

    I did not calculate in strength, dexterity, and defense. but you get the idea
