Birds are dinosaurs. Or, depending on how you define "bird", dinosaurs are birds. "Dinosauria" is a defined clade, but "bird" isn't. We have no clue what to call birds except for the extant ones. I personally say that Avemetatarsalians are birds, as they are all animals more closely related to birds than crocodilians, the closest relatives of birds. This is because most things that are associated with birds (feathers, lighter skeletons, etc) descend from Avemetatarsalians. This includes Dinosauria, Pterosaurs, and some basal Avemetatarsalians. And fish aren't inferior. Ray-finned fish are the most successful crown group in Vertebrata besides Vertebrata itself.
