So... What drives all these flipping server resets?
Is it a function of one or more of the following:

    • -Some arcane schedule us mere mortals can't hope to understand
    • -A fixed time between resets that is hidden from us mere mortals
    • -A triggering condition is met via some function of qty of players and time since last restart
    • -A triggering condition is met such as button/plate "x" has been activated "y" number of times since last restart
Anyone have an insight into this mystery?

I don't know how it works, but I think it is just a normal timer, cause if 5 is restarting 3 is up or the other way around 100% of the time

Pretty sure it's a fixed time between resets. Not 100% sure, but that's how it seems to me.

I always thought it would restart if the lag % got too high

Is the timer extended if there's a bomb thrown?

I've seen bombs get cut off by a reset, sobI would say no.

This example is one that made me think about this topic. Hypothetically, if I had a bomb, I would want there to be some kind of indicator that would let me know if I had a full 30 min left on the server's timer to get full use of my bomb or is that uncertainty part of the deal?

Typically, if a bomb is thrown the server reset timer is "frozen" until the bomb ends. Once it ends, a lot of times afterwards the server restart countdown will begin (starting at 10 minutes, but occasionally starting at 9).

I think a while back it was possible for the countdown to begin in the middle of a bomb duration, but they may have patched that so a server restart countdown doesn't start until there is no bomb active. This was added to prevent players from wasting their money on half a bomb (since the bombs must be purchased with money).

I think it would force activate after long enough tho, to prevent chaining bombs to cause... Issues...

Yes, it does tend to "force activate" after a certain amount of bombs have been chained. I've been on servers with multiple dxp bombs and after one particular bomb the restart will activate within one minute of the bomb ending.

It has to do this, or else the server being chain-bombed would never be reset and then issues with mechanics or lag will increase and not be fixed.

That's kinda worrying for grinding party's, as it would eventually just cut off a bomb, it's it's possible to have bombs that never end.
Xp (wait 10 mins) Loot (Wait for XP to end) Xp, and repeat

That would be interesting to test or determine what happens with that scenario, but most times the player will set off both bombs at once for the "ease" factor. Plus, most people who do dxp don't usually include the loot bomb with it (unless they want to try and get double legendaries/mythics).
