The quest gave us far more questions than answers, and a laboratory key definitely fits in with the theme.

Remember, the old ??? had an easter egg at the end as well.

But theres of dialogue there from the mushroom? You sure that does not happen with it not in your inv.

If thats only with mushroom...

Hmm.

If we combine this with what we know from the miner camp, wheres theres also a mysterious device, this key could be connected.

We need to find that symbol...

Did the guy press the button in the end portal room with talking mushroom and get the lab key...?

 

Portal is irrelevant at the moment.

He said he pressed the button in this camp (lets call it pirate camp) WITH the mushroom and got the key.

Meanwhile the layout of the camp and what happened directly mimics the Abandoned Mines camp.

I think they may be connected

I tried pressing it without the mushroom, nothing happened. I pressed it again with it, and I got another key, so they're correlated. If what you're referring to is the Troll Relic thing at the Abandoned Mines, I personally think it has nothing to do with this. I don't think Ohms Lab is connected with this either.

 

I can confirm that it does give you a key
Maybe ariodos lab... That has stuff to do with nature

 

Two arrows in a circle is the sign for skill point resetting. Maybe try bringing it to Tower of Amnesia? It's not much of a clue, but it's something...

Still, mechanical key is for opening ohms lab and dosent really have much to do with this

Already tried - nothing.

It's possible, but given that there's a lot of weird unfinished stuff in Ariodo's Lab, if that were the case then we've run into a WIP easter egg.

My little "theory" on the matter is that this lab is located somewhere in the Realm of Light, or at least the realm plays a role in this. Yeah, I know it's a stretch, but consider the Talking Mushroom's behavior when you enter the realm:
