The currently presented counter proposal is to take periodic breaks that allow you to return with a renewed motivation to play and to see the new additions that have been implemented in their absence.

My personal experience is that taking extended breaks is a good way to combat burn-out in a hobby or other endeavor. If the real issue is burn-out rather than boredom, then that is the better solution. Trying to power through burn-out rarely leads to anything but worse burn-out.

If boredom is the issue and waiting for the dev's to add more content would solve it, a break looks like the right answer again. There's lots of other stuff to do in life than continue to play a game you are finding uninspiring and pointless. Go expand your horizons, then drop back in when you'll be able to enjoy it again.

Main thing: when folks drop out, it's their choice. They are doing what's best for them at the time. Our best option is to send them off with our best wishes and welcome them back if they return in the future, assuming life hasn't taken us in different directions by then too.

Perhaps you misunderstand me. Your purpose here is positive. I see this as a serious attempt to solve a problem that you've identified. My first addition to the thread may have been a crappy attempt at humor, but overall I've been on your side here. I hate to see folks dive in, then flame out when you were just getting to know them. If your list of ideas helps someone stick around, cool.

My point is that there is often more nuance* at play behind what's causing folks to lose interest than what your initial hypothesis implies. Nothing personal, just looking at all the input so far (the more serious stuff anyway) and objectively examine it along with my personal experience and write the resulting opinion statement in coherent English.

If my opinion does not match your's, that's great! Think our own thoughts, man.
