Is it an exit from somewhere

 

Made all the quests so far and never came out there

 

How about boss altars or like other areas that's generally outside the map

 

you could be right, on top of ice hights is a hit for a boss altor, but it was never added. maybe that was the intended exit

It's probably something that has to do with future updates.

Or maybe they thought it would be fun to confuse the players by putting a mysterious black hole in the wall :)

I found it months ago, and I would suspect it's either for an unused quest or a future quest.
