Really, How Much Help Does Each Skill Point Offer?

I am still confused on the skill points. The wiki doesn't provide a good explanation too.

 

Each skill point increases the stat it says as well as your elemental damage in the element the point corresponds to:

Strength: Increases all damage dealt, and increases earth damage
Dexterity: Increases chance to do a crit (2x damage), and increases thunder damage. When you deal a crit, the damage boost from strength is ignored.
Intelligence: Decreases mana usage, and increases water damage.
Defense: Decreases damage taken, and increases fire damage.
Agility: Increases chance to dodge (take no damage), and increases air damage.

Each skill point you add will add a small amount to the stat. Skill points have diminishing returns, which means as you add more into a stat, the stat will increase less per point. The maximum amount of skill points possible in one stat, 150, will give you an 80% boost in the stat.

 

so its clear, fire/def does not affect elemental damage

 

Defense boosts your fire damage like the other skill points boost their elements.
I'm not sure if you meant that or that defense doesn't reduce element damage taken, which I'm not sure about.

 

I meant it won't block like say, thunder dmg. I worded that weird XD
