A Few Questions Concerning Gear And Melee Dmg

Hai!
So... I've got a few questions. It would be great if you could help me out!

- What would be good gear for a melee damage earth mage? I was thinking about like chestplate of ineptitude, Aries or Piscis and Gaia I guess. For the rest I have like absolutely no idea

- does the raw melee damage added from items also get multiplied by increased melee percentage?

- how many emeralds is a Gaia roughly?
