Art Switch Core - Logo Contest Entry

Spoiler: Standalone Logo (Warning: A bit large)

Here is my entry for the Nintendo Switchcord's Logo Contest for their upcoming gaming news website, SwitchCore.
It was completed in 3 days with GIMP (for the design creation), Convertio (online website for the conversion of PNG to SVG), and Inkscape (for SVG editing).
Unfortunately, my design wasn't the winner of the contest. However, I gave it my all when creating this logo, so I'm not too upset about it.

Please leave feedback about how I can improve the design further, or tips for improvement on future logos like these.​

Fixed.

Apparently, SVG files show up just fine in the text editor, but fail to display after that.

 

That's a really neat design! Can you give me a link to the contest? I'm interested to see who won and I can't find information about it anywhere :P

 

It was a contest that took place on the Discord server, so I can't quite provide a link to the original post.

Hmm.. Honestly, I think yours is better since it relates more to the Nintendo Switch, the upcoming product. They probably chose this logo because it appeals more to more than one console. I don't know what Switch Core exactly is, but you stated that it was a news site for Nintendo. Thus, they were most likely looking for a broader logo instead of one that appeals to a niche.
