Weapon Skins Not Working

When I use a weapon skin my weapon just turns to the purple and black square that a UN-textured item is

Weapon skins require 1.9 or above. Additionally, you might need to delete the resource pack files in the "server-resourcepacks" folder in the ".minecraft" directory. Once you do these things, restart your game and the weapon skins should appear.

Be aware that some of the normal weapon textures will be misaligned with the right item, and may appear as a slab. If you want to fix that after you download the new pack, I have a guide below on how to do it.
