    Hello Wynncraft,

From a lore perspective, why is the King of Ragni a Villager. Although the villagers seem to have done much within the space of 10 years since their arrival, I presume it was always a human king that ruled over a human province.

    Thanks
    Rocko

I spent much time wrestling with that question. The lore was changed so villagers came 100 years ago, not 10.

Does that start to clear things up?

Ah kk thank you, I believe on the Wiki it still says 10 years. However, there were Kings at Ragni before the Villagers arrival, such as King Frederick who employed soul spiriters to destroy dark magic well before the Corruption. So there must have been human kings: why did the king switch from a Human to a Villager.

This is likely the reason, but we have to make sense of it from a lore perspective.

Hah yes, I could this see this. The only way in my mind it would be plausible is that when the Villagers came 100 years ago and humans noticed that the undead did not attack Villager settlements, they incorporated more Villagers into their towns so not to be attacked by swarms. As the humans saw the effectiveness of this, perhaps having a Villager king would seem like a good idea - his authority would attract even more Villagers from Gavel thus entrenching this aura of protection in Ragni from the Corruption. However, I'm presuming here that Ragni has a traditional monarchy where power is hereditary. That would mean that either the current King is half Villager, half Human, taking his right to the throne from Human royal parentage or that the previous Human king was "overthrown", whether that be through force or a vote. Rather than a political move from the Humans, the vote for a Villager King simply could be that the majority of Ragni's population is now Villagers and so they called for someone of their own race to represent themselves.

Now, this is all speculation. However, I do have some tentative evidence that suggests this vote overthrowing a human King might have happened and fairly recently at that. When I was starting a new character, I decided to explore the Ragni Outskirts more thoroughly. As you proceed past the Crazy Hermit Cave, to the right of the path are stairs leading up to a few houses in the Ragni Outskirts. Ragni Outskirts Residents live in these houses, offering bits of information and they are all human. If you keep going to the last house nestled in the cliffs, you will find another human Resident who says something along the lines of he's surprised that you made it all the way to his house and that sense of exploration will be a useful quality to have in Wynn. He sends you off much like the King of Ragni does when you first set out on your adventure, as if they both possessed the same roles and good nature. Then if you climb to the top of this Resident's house, you will notice that he has a rather peculiar looking piece of furniture.

When I first saw this, a throne came to mind. To have a stone chair built in the usual fashion of a Minecraft throne in your house seemed odd to me. What is more, is that when you sit in the chair, it looks in the direction of where Ragni is, as if the occupant sits there looking longingly or nostalgically to where the Castle would be.

Notice the similarity in throne design of the current Villager king's throne that happens to be wooden instead of stone.

    The clues here are:

    1. This Resident in placed in the most isolated house in Ragni Outskirts as if exiled and kept out of sight while still being allowed to live in Ragni's jurisdiction.
    2. He offers kingly advice that sets you out on your journey.
    3. He has a throne-like chair that looks towards Ragni.

It is possible that this is the previous human King.

You also may remember the quest Prison Story where the prisoner Ooni asks you to fetch a key from the sewer rats. He is part of the 'Resistance'. He may just be a smuggler making this all up so you will free him, but let us assume the Resistance is real. We do not know what the Resistance is fighting against, but it is reasonable to assume against the current institution of power. Note Ooni is a human. And that he mentions 'we' (The Resistance) built a secret entrance into the sewer tunnel that happens to run across the span of the city and right near the Palace, making for easy transport of people should you wish to instigate a revolution. Perhaps the Resistance are the humans not happy that a Villager king rules over an originally human town and so plan a coup to reinstate a human regent.

Something of note may be that all the kings described before the Villagers arrival are given names such as Frederick II, whereas our current King is just called 'Ragni's King'. The GMs could have given him a nomenclatural title yet he does not have one, perhaps indicating a temporary royal appointment in a time of crisis.

As for the King of Troms, I have not visited Troms as of yet, but a similar situation could have occurred that lead to Villagers replacing a human monarchy. I'd welcome anyone who has done the quest WynnExcavation D which involves the royalty if they noticed anything that might support this theory.

There's not much to go on for this theory as is the case for many theories. However, if I had to give it a name, it would be the Villager Conspiracy, the Royal Villager Conspiracy or the Royal Conspiracy.
    Let's say the Royal Conspiracy.

So this is the OLD storyline with the outdated info:

    https://wiki.wynncraft.com/index.php?title=Storyline

And I can't find the place where they said it was wrong, I think it was on some profile post or comments on a thread. But!

    https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/the-lore-is-wrong-what-do-we-do.108105/

That is a thread I made a while back when we were told the storyline changed.

I wish I could be of more precise help, but just deal with that for now :)

In my time playing wynncraft, I have seen many theories, but this one feels like it has a good chance of being correct. To much Evidence to be Random, and, all from a player with a world lv of 60 and not even a level 50 yet. Good Job on this. Ill dig some myself and see if i can find anything to add on, as I feel like we are one part away from this being proven. =D +1

Thank you for the responses. By chance I happened upon a low level helmet called The Old King's Crown. Perhaps another piece of supporting evidence.

I just finished the WynnExcavation quest series, very engaging even if I missed the lore about the Eye due to Corrupted Ancients pelting me.

As @SPYROHAWK said in his thread about WynnExcavation, at the end of Site D, the King of Ragni tells us his grandfather was royalty in Gavel.

Therefore, it would seem that the villager monarchy from Gavel replaced the previous monarchy that ruled Wynn. It implies that the GM team recognises that the current royalty strangely are all Villagers.

Gavel trying to overtake the Wynn Royals, perhaps to concede with Wynn Exe? Which would also explain the stone chair easter egg,,,
