Serious Anti Malware

quick, I have a report in biology due tomorrow, and I need my computer fixed. I know how to remove the virus from letting me access my PC (it's a product key virus) but should I use Malwarebytes or what? (Needs to be free)

 

What kinda virus? What does the virus exactly do? Do you still have the infected file?

EDIT: Strange. 2 No-Name anti virus say they are bad. Probably because they are other anti virus programms and they could get in each others way

It's a product key scam virus and it requires careful use of task manager to allow t to access windows. I found out it was a virus today, and I'm removing it for my paper, but to completely remove it I need a good antivirus. I'm wondering if Malwarebytes is good for the job.

 

Use the tools I linked. Then get malwarebytes and let it perform a full scan. What do you mean with product key scam virus? And I still don't really know what it does

 

It modifies your shell so that instead of taking you to the desktop when logging in it takes you to a program called "updateproductkey.exe" or "black.exe" and tells you that there's a virus on your computer and to "check if you have a legitimate copy of windows" it wants your product key. The main use of it is the "Contact Support" number. The guy on the other end apparently wants to give you programs to "fix it" but it's more viruses.

 

Ah okay. Well yea you should try one of the tools and after all of them do malwarebytes. If you still have problems afterwards I'll find another way. How did you get the virus btw? Did you try to crack win or what? xD
