Durability Loss

So after witnessing this happening on a Depressing Spear, I bought a common spear and started striking villagers with it

Then this happened (check the durability)


A few more strikes after that, it broke... and disappeared.
The weapon does return after a relog, but I'd imagine it might freak some new players out.
Also, the bug (it is... right?) only happens occasionally, hitting some mobs won't decrease the durability, but others would.

Seriously though, not a single new player will have a spear for long enough to break it. They will exchange it for a block very soon...

wait... you mean you tried to hit villagers with a depressing item? but why... it does literally 0-1 damage xD

 

They are from an iOS app, now modified by me to be hallowynn-fit

 

I have a spear that loses durability like yours. I found that if you cast a spell with it the durability will reset (I think it's because the title might temporarily change, resetting the base value). Also, dropping it on the ground and picking it back up will reset it as well.

Still though, this is a weird bug and it may need to be looked at. Especially since they're now making legendary spears with the "normal" model with the durability issue. The last thing anyone needs is their legendary spear breaking after running the Corrupted Decrepit Sewers 10+ times in a row.

 

I found this issue with a spoon while running around in yahyas basement before the map push came out.

 

I'm pretty sure that the durability will be restored if you right click it.

 

This only happens for some items because a few if those items are re-textured tools.
