Lazarus Pit Help

Soooo, I got into the pit and to the part when I inspect the house, however I go around the whole entire area to get my quest book updated, but it didn't, so I looked up a video guide for it and you have to enter the house and talk to the guy.... right? Well, heres when things get annoying, I talking to him...he says his sentence and..nothing happens, quest book doesn't update, nothing. Is this a bug or is it me being an idiot.

 

Keep walking around inside the house; I got my quest book to update on the second floor near the bed.
