"Thank you, sincerely... and good luck. They're driven mad; you'll need more than reason to settle them." The king says, already starting to drift back asleep.

"Can you even interact enough with the physical plane to rest on Rineth's back?"

"What you see is all we have. I'd say they're not doing too horribly of cutting us off, but if we were to settle somewhere, we could force them to make a move into a trap." Xephyr suggests.

"Helianthus... We need one of them to die, else we're sure to die to their hands. Risk anything to break their morale; we have little other choice." The healer mutters, opening a portal near you.
"With your soulcore stored here, you have lives to spend. If you can kill one, we can bring you back. If you can get another with the second life, we'll bring you back again and keep you back to live out the free time you'd have earned."

 

"A trap would only work if it is the utmost perfect trap. A simple bait under a box would simply not do."

"Well, this is certainly better than wasting my life reading." Helianthus says, putting on his hood, drawing his sword, and jumping through the portal.

 

"Of course. They're no fools, but neither are we."

You find yourself on the outskirts of Greenhill stronghold.

 

I nod.

Helianthus walks around for a bit, looking to see if there are any members of the group there.

 

"Sir Terrae, if we managed to allow you to study our opposition, might you aid us in our fight? With what's going on, I believe whatever's causing troubles with your airships is related to the Hive Master."

Nobody in sight. However, Brisingr seems to be nothing but a field of erupting magma at the moment.

 

"For now, I have a neutral stance as I do not have any concrete evidence that the Hive Master really is behind the missing airships. Once I get concrete evidence, I may as well side with this group."

"What on earth happened here?!" Helianthus yells, and starts walking around a bit more.

 

"Of course, but you said there was one of our kind living below your castle, and he had information about your airships? I respect your decision, but I am a bit intrigued by this all. Perhaps after we're done with this outing, would you permit me to come to your kingdom and see if I can help unearth anything?"

Other than Brisingr, everything is just as you remember it... Except there seems to be more development in fortress construction while you were in the Void.

"Well, I've been meaning to do this for a while now." Helianthus says, sheathing his sword and entering the stronghold, keeping his hood on.

 

"Wow...that's quite a strong bond." I say.

Myria seems to have stopped meditating, and Rineth can just about overhear some sinister sounding plans being discussed with Katie, Abigail, Stephanie and Artemis.

 

The guards give you suspicious looks, but let you enter. However, they don't part as you approach the captain's room.

Ruby vaults off Abigail's shoulders.
"What'cha talking about?" She asks, levitating upside down in the middle of the group.

 

"Battle plans for possible futures I've seen." Myria says.

 

"Good idea. Maybe you should include Xephyr; she is a tactician."

 

"From what I've seen, it is concerning Myself, Artemis, Aj, Stephanie, Abigail and Katie. While Xephyr may be a tactician, I believe it is best for our teamwork battles to remain personal to us." Myria says calmly, trying to not sound rude.

 

"Forgive me, but you wishing to operate by leaving us in the dark sounds like you're looking to betray..."

 

"I am not planning to betray, but if it will undo the possible damage to trust, we are preparing for a possible battle with an old "acquaintance" of Aj, Artemis and Abigail's." Myria says, using her fingers as quotes as she says 'acquaintance'.

 

"That will set things the way they were. I hope you can pardon me for intruding on personal matters."

Ihra points to something in the middle of the Brisingr lava field.
"Abigail, any ideas to what might live in lava?"

 

"I realise keeping secrets from you can cause mistrust, so I'm sorry." Myria says, going back to talking with the others.

"Fire salamanders, I guess." Abigail says, sounding a little depressed.

 

Ihra walks over to Abigail.
"What's wrong?"

 

"It's just...our whole adventure was going to Brisingr, but...look at it. It's destroyed..." Abigail says, depressed.
