    If you are starting a brand new or on your 2nd character, I recommend mage over archer. MAge doesn't require any pots that most new players constantly forget and its more accident-forgiving. If you mess up with an archer or forget to get pots, you going to die alot.

    Archer is harder imo, and you can also only hit one enemy with an arrow IIRC. Mage has heal which can be considered op, especially at higher levels.

    On the other hand, Archer is way more fun to travel with and you don't need a horse if using a lot of mana doesn't bother you.
    Mage has pretty weak damage on most wands but meteor can make up for it. It might be a bit hard early on too, as heal is kinda weak and without meteor your damage isn't great.

    Archer free speed sanic. High damage output. Arrow bomb = meteor, strong late game. Best movement vertically best distance traveled horizontally in open spaces.
    Cons
    Pretty squishy
    Expensive late game
    Constant need of potions.

    Mage
    Solid damage
    Cheap effective wands.
    No potions needed
    Decent movement

    Cons
    Only one damage spell.
    Vertical movement sucks
    Not as fast

    Meteor and Ice Snake, both damage spells. I guess you could call one a debuff spell since it debuffs you enemy but you still use it in battle and it does damage. Remove that con. Also for archers to be fast they need to be even more squishy.
