    1.9 PVP is fine, though 1.10 did get added too quick.

    As for your math, program updates go like this

    Why 1.9 combat was a good idea:
    • You require strategy and not having to jitterclick all day everyday
    • Okay, armor penalties are shit now, but we have less jitterclick, so it's balanced out
    • The End has a post-game purpose
    • The F*cking Elytra
    • Resource Pack changes: Damaged item variants means you can have thousands of textures on a set amount of items
    • Map-Making changes: Loot Tables, as well as 1.10 structure blocks
    • 2 New Command Blocks for much more compact creations and such
    • Axes are useful without McMMO

    What strategy does 1.9 take? It's pretty much just a slower version of 1.7 with fancy visuals and items. Jitterclicking is hardly a factor, timing W-Taps is much more important in PvP that's even semi-high level.

    I agree with everything else you mentioned though, 1.9 was good for PvE and map making. But pretty awful for PvP tbh.

    Well no, we might get a 2.0, but as you would imagine that would probably not be for a very long time. As that would pretty much be "Minecraft, version 2" Since 1.0 was its official release.

    Which is really my problem with people complaining about 1.9 combat:
    If the PvPers say it's bad, which I don't see many of them saying, THEN it's bad.
