I have 16gb of ram, I don't think it would cause spikes. As I said, this is an INTERNET problem, not an FPS problem. RAM has nothing to do with it, I am 100% sure of that.

Well if it's an internet problem, what is the point of this thread? Call your ISP.

I don't think they will know what to do tbh, it's just a bunch of dumbasses reading out of a reference book who don't know shit about networking. I think my IP has to somehow be getting blocked, or maybe the server location is screwing my connection.

Well I had other tips to reduce lag, but you seem completely unreceptive to those that I have offered. Good luck.

I can try and help, but first you have to understand a couple of things: Some of my questions may seem unimportant or you may feel they don't apply to you, just bear with me, this information could be helpful to others.

What operating system are you using? Is it windows? What version? If you are using Linux or Mac I cannot help you, but I may know some that can.

Do you know your PC specs? If not, approximately how old is it? Is it a laptop?

Are you directly connected to your router or using wifi? What router is it? Do you know how to reset it? What if I told you to try updating the firmware, would that need further explaining? Is the ISP service in your name or your parent's?

Just try answering as honestly as possible, and if you feel any information is too personal, don't include it.

The thing about 'too much memory is bad' is a tough concept for some to grasp, I guess it's just because 'more ram' was the answer to every problem back in the day, but times have changed and just because you have 16gigs or more doesn't mean you should use it. You don't have to take my word for this, I can provide a link or you can google it yourself, even the Wynncraft wiki says 2 gigs.

One last thing, can you describe what you were doing or where you were when you started lagging? Were there over 1000 people on? Were you on a horse?

ok, this is one of the most annoying threads i think i have ever read just because people do not know how to read. CarGT im so sorry that you havent been able to sort out your issue, and that everyone thinks that you are getting FPS lag, not internet lag.

I myself am quite the lagger. But its a point of smooth playability (200 ms with spikes)

try flushing your DNS Revolver cache by going into command prompt and typing "ipconfig /flushdns"

If you can, get a wifi adapter, plug it into your computer and connect through WiFi rather than ethernet. I am going to link you to a reddit post that explains the benefits and how to improve your wifi connection through this app. (https://www.reddit.com/r/LifeProTips/comments/4jcp2o/lpt_download_wifi_analyzer_to_determine_what/) not sure if this will improve your connection or not, but it seemed to work for these people.

Try using a different version of the launcher. I've had issues with newer launchers and the old Java one works fine for me.

I built my PC lol, so I know the exact specs
So, I have tried playing Wynn on an alternate computer running a different OS on a different account on this Wifi, so I know this isn't a PC issue. The router is directly next to my PC, however the ISP is in my parent's name.
I never didn't lag lol, I have played for 3 years with this lag off and on, up to about level 60. It's strange, because it is always occurring, around once every 1-2 seconds I get a spike.

I really feel bad for ya man, I cringe every time I read a reply that says "GIT GUD GIT OPTiFINE!!1!1!1!" or, "have u tryde lowre grafficks settins???/?" I wish I could help in some way, but sadly all I can help with is suggesting you call your ISP, I know you said they would probably be complete morons reading from a book (and I agree) but really at this point it's the only option you have.

    Hmm interesting
Do you run any programs in the background while playing minecraft?
Like music, a video, anti-virus software, anything internet/wifi related or non-wifi related?
Just any program that is running besides minecraft on your computer

Are there other people using your router/network while you are trying to play?
Like a sibling watching a video on a phone or something?

Usually the only lag I get is horse lag and a couple lag spikes but usually i'm fine

I am in no way a computer guy.
    Just trying to help

No, I am the only one usually using the Wifi. Background programs wouldn't have anything to do with this because this is just one particular server. I play games much more resource-intensive than this, and my server connectivity is fine with background programs operating.

He's running at like 500fps avrg on minecraft, he's prob got a bloody gtx 1080 + i7 6800k or some shit
I also use 16 gigs of ram, 5 being dedicated to wynncraft, the server doesn't lag for me.

Anyway, since you're getting fine connection in other games, the issue is probably server-side. I wouldn't think that there's something special about connecting to wynncraft that makes it slower, especially after getting a new pc and reinstalling minecraft. What is your internet speed by the way? @Pretzule did mention to use speedtest.net, giving us the results may help us with finding out the issue. My internet isn't very fast, can still connect fine. If yours is fast and can connect fine to every other game, the issue has to be server side, as I highly doubt that there's some special connection between your router and wynncraft in particular.

Thanks for the response and building on the solution,
I stated once or twice above that my download is 50mbps and my upload is 5mbps
I didn't expect you to find it as it is buried within 4 pages.
Anyways, I think my internet speed is fine lol. I played Wynn on my grandparents' shitty internet and it was just fine at their house. It's strange.

Meh, I understand. I wish there was some way I could track my connection to the server to look for issues, but I fear only the owners of the server can actually monitor this or know how to.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I kind of feel like this is a lost cause at this point, so I guess I am gonna have to play an actual MMO :/
The stupid thing is that a Minecraft server is the best MMO out there right now IMO.

I was having the same problems and by doing some of these things it fixed my troubles with server lag
    • I took off optifine because I saw a noticeable difference with and without it
    • I switched to 1.8.9 because the form of lag changes into something more manageable. 1.10: everything stalls and jumps around as you catch up with the server. You also get stuck on blocks without realizing it on your horse more often. 1.8.9: Everything stays with you better and horse riding becomes a little more doable, It's just with more players the lag is greater while you ride
    • When loading into a server I have a problem with downloading terrain. Sometimes it's quick and other times it can last for half an hour. If it does catch up after 10 or so minutes it's usually accompanied by the world speeding up around me and I get kicked for flying because I was stuck in mid air. If you also have this problem then joining low population servers help.
I didn't have to do any of this until after the gameplay update so I'm not sure if this will fix any of your problems. To put it in perspective I have a good PC build so I can run the game at around 200-300 fps and my internet is crap. Despite that, I only ever get a problem with internet connection in wynncraft and servers that can only support less than 100 players. I don't know how good the wynn servers are and I'm not making assumptions it's just I would imagine the custom plugins are extremely demanding so 50-60 people to a server could lag any person playing.

    I hope this helps
