Guide [ffi] Plague Laboratory

as some of you know there is a boss altar in the basement of a house near Olux. (-1830 -5260)

@le_mega_barbare @scallysche @Ascended Kitten and myself have tried to enter it yesterday but failed (it was broken so we reported it and it got fixed)
today @Ascended Kitten and myself tried it again and got in, the item you need is mentioned in signs in the attic (thanks @Selvut283 )



as you can guess you need the cursed poisoned sacks that drop from the cursed silk spiders in the area

after you drop 16 sacks into the hopper you get teleported to a weird hall

when you go to fight the boss he says

the boss itself wasn't very hard but he spawns a swarm of locusts that have different spells ranging from heal to multi hit, don't try to kill them for everyone you kill another two pop up (or so it feels).
after the first time we fought him we couldn't find anything special (it is a great place to farm powders tho), so I went to fight him another time this time only hitting him, his drop amazed me, he dropped an amazing 2 stacks of emeralds.
wat.
so I went out feeling cheated.

It's probaly also worth mentioning that the huge amount of locusts is great for powder farming; alone from one fight I found over 10 tier IIIs

Most people seem to be challenging these altars far over-leveled...this is meant for Lv 55's as evidenced by the items.

Each locust, if killed or should it use Self-Destruct, will spawn one of another type in a cycle. Rejuvenation-->Consumption-->Infection-->Rejuvenation. This makes them functionally immortal despite constantly switching between forms. They spawn into the arena gradually, and there can be a very high amount of them in that room at once.



Specifically, up to 199 of them. The fight, then, is on a functional time limit, because if you cannot kill the Plague Doctor in time, you will not be able to deal with so many Locusts constantly using Heal or thrashing you with Multihits, so you either must die or escape.

 

I did that as a level 90 just because the class happened to be in olux (/kill from the hidden city lock room) if you rush the boss you don't have to deal with the locusts.

so just throwing this out there, you have about a minute to kill the Plague doctor before the locusts start to shred you.

 

500k hp ... how should lv 55 get them down LOL

 

It's because before they could be oneshot and infinitely farmed for about 5 tier VI in 20 minutes (1 of each element). So they buffed the health enough that that won't happen
