    so i made it to seluc but whenever i try to lead him anywhere he just doesnt follow me after moving 10-20 blocks. do i really need to deal with this for the entire trip through the canyon?

    Seluc is ridiculously nearsighted, you'll have to stay close for him to be able to see you. Don't go charging in guns blazing or else he'll lose sight of you very easily.
