Could that possibly be a reference to that short story where this man stays at a bed n' breakfast where the old lady there gives him a drink that secretly contains cyanide? I don't know the exact name of the story, but I still remember it.

Yes it is, and the story's called 'The Landlady'. Fun fact: it was written by Roald Dahl. although cyanide IRL is supposed to taste like almonds

Part 1: Memes

~Gavel: A Province of Wonder and Magic

Description: An early joke during the development of Gavel by members of the community (remember, people knew about Gavel for over a year before it was released), which displays a purposely poorly made assembly of random blocks, with the caption reading: "GAVEL: A province filled with WONDER and MAGIC."

Fun fact: There is a Dern edition of the meme for all you memers who want to start the Dern Hype train. You can find it here.

~Blame Jumla

Description: Another early meme, older than Wynncraft itself, having migrated from the CraftedMovie server. Used in a bad situation where Jumla is totally not to blame, but where posting anything related to "Blame Jumla," gets likes. For instance:

Chunk errors? Blame Jumla.

Gavel's not out? Blame Jumla.

Salted is not edible? Blame Jumla.

9/7/15? Blame Jumla.

Part 2: Quotes/Phrases

~"An Hero!"

Description: An accidentally misspelled version of, "A Hero." First appearing on the forums in the thread J6 Was An Hero (a parody of this) back in December 2015, where the thread creator, @JohnDSi, to commemorate the fallen J6, an real hero. The phrase was brought up again in another thread as well, and has been used in a variety of ways elsewhere.

Not so fun fact: "An hero" wasn't invented by Wynncraft's community, as mentioned above, it originated from a much... darker, and trollolling source. In other words, 4chan.

~"Soon™"

Description: At some point in Gavel's development, some forum lurker decided to ask Salted when Gavel was coming out, to which he received the ever quoted, drama inspiring, bone tingling, steak grilling answer of: "Soon™." Afterwards, the quote was used forever more as a response to those who asked for Gavel release dates, usually in a sarcastic or humorous manner. If you have ever seen a most dapper gentleman, during the Pre-Gavel phase asking, "Wen dos Gavl com?" you'd sure as HECK certainly see at least one other responding with an equally intelligent, "Soon™ 10 chars."

Now that Gavel's out, I suppose the phrase is ded. Thus begins the age of...

~"Slated, Grolan/Grain"

Description: "Derp," versions of Admins Salted and Grian. At one point very popular with lurkers on Salted and Grians forum walls. Even Jumla had one at one point, but has since been lost to time... joomlu anyone?

~"Developers" (Thx @ShadowMage1™)

Description: A phrase chanted by scrublords on the eve of the Gavel Content team awards ceremony. Builders, mods, GMs, and even the commenters on the stream took part in a massive chant to spam Grian, and the phrase lived on in our hearts, which resulted in more than a few lobby spam attacks.

~"Remove Kebab" (Thx @JohnDSi)

Description: A short lived joke, during the period of which all kebabs were removed from the premises, and the Kebab removal unit was established. Introduced to the WynnForums by scrublord @IgbarVonSquid™ at 3:23 in this vid (Thx @Aeon):

~"Figt me I rek u" (Thx @Aeon)

Description: A common phrase uttered often by Detlas lurkers, Province wandering duelers, and powerful noobs everywhere. If someone ever tells you this in game, be ready to respond with an equally intelligent, "K," then rekt thos scrubs in 1v1 Winnkreft kombat.

The meme itself entered Wynncraft's Community through a flame war on Wynncraft's old Forums, when a mod, @PhoenixJHyde, noticed it composed almost completely of the rather intelligent five words: "Figt me I rek u." Soon after the phrase spread across the Forums like wildfire, accompanied by Phoenix's profile picture (Thanks @JohnDSi)

~Nicefind.avi (Thx @SuperMatt11)

Early in the fall of 2015, moderator and YouTuber Igbarvonsquid uploaded a video titled "Nicefind.avi," which was meant to jokingly ridicule the many easter egg threads that clogged the Wynncraft Forums section. The original version is now unlisted, and can be found here:

The video was never intended for excessively negative purposes, but shortly after it was posted, many Forumers began using it as a put down against Easter egg posters. Pretty soon about every alive easter egg thread had at least one Nicefind.avi video, which sparked some arguments about the morals of using the video in such a way. Since then, Igbar has released a less edgy version, which can be seen below:

Part 3: Forum Culture and History

~9/7/15, a wipe that will go down... in infamy

Description: Probably the most infamous single event in Forums history. Occurred when a mess-up resulted in the wipe of every last Wynncraft Forums post in every single Forum. Even though profile pages, likes, and some message counts were spared, the damage done was insurmountably large, with thousands and thousands of pages lost of lore, art, and Mulars Data Files. Thankfully, the efforts of Wynncraft's community helped rebuild the Forums to where it is today. Thanks Forums!

~10 Chars...

Description: The common Sh*tposters biggest enemy, and a protector against spam, the legendary 10 character limit! Due to this function, posts with under 10 individual characters cannot be posted, which prevents large scale spamming of a single character on pages.

Although some tried to cheat the limit, a new Forum rule now prohibits this, forever disabling the use of the term "K," as a thread response.

~Wynntheory/Wynntheories (Thx @SwordOfSkies)

Description: A once incredibly popular genre of Wynnforums posts which sparked interest in making theories around the more complex (and less complex) parts of Wynncraft's in game lore. The term "Wynntheory," was coined by former mod @SteelXawesum, who made the first "Wynntheory" (though he wasn't the first person to create a Wynncraft based theory).

~Legio Praetoria (Thx @SwordOfSkies)

Description: A matter of months after the winter 2014 Guild update, a powerful alliance of the guilds The Nethers Ascention, Knights of Valor, Imperial, and Kangronomicon, arose, known as Legio Praetoria. This alliance proved determined, deadly, and undefeatable in battle, and within a month or so, they had taken over the entire Province of Wynn in guild wars, holding it with a steel fist. Any other guild before them was crushed into the dirt, none could stand against their might. Some called them order, others called them oppressors.

As you might expect, the takeover caused a lot of arguments (which even I was a part of at any given time) over the legality in game of such an action. So many guilds and alliances formed against them with the sole purpose of Legio Praetoria's (or simply Legio's) destruction. Eventually however, the alliance crumbled by itself, and the world was split once again between many small un-unified factions, but the legacy of the alliance would last on in the hearts of all those who had fought with it or against it...

until 9/7 and guilds breaking lol

~The Hype Train (Thx @MinerDwarf222)

Though the concept of a HYPE train wasn't created by the Wynncraft community, it was used extensively during a certain period of Gavel's middle-late development, primarily after Admin Grian created the "Gavel Hype Train" thread. The term would be extensively and metaphorically used to describe Gavel Hype.

For instance, when Gavel came out: "THE GAVEL HYPE TRAIN IS RUNNING INTO THE GATES AT FULL FORCE." Or before when Gavel hype slowed: "The hype train is losing steam!"

~Le Scam Merchant (Thx @Sabastion)

Description: A sneaky little bastard from the long removed VIP Town (name says all, a town for VIPs), who used his wits to steal all your emeralds. How, you ask? First, he would make an offer to sell an emerald block... and offer one emerald in return! GENIUS.

Over the years, the Scam merchant grew rich from all his scamming. But one fateful day, the terrible beast known as the EULA attacked the VIP Town and burned it into cinders, but the resourceful scam merchant lived on, and used the money he scammed to retire on a sparkly beach somewhere on the coast of Llevigar, where he remains to this day, sipping a glass of liquid emeralds and wearing a cloak of Salted Skin.

~2015 Scarf Blob Rebellion (Thx @Rawb)

Description: Sometime in the middle of Gavel's primary development period, an army of furry creature's known as Scarf Blob's invaded the Forum pages, turning some members into their own kind. This sparked a massive Forum thread war, even resulting in the creation of some hate threads in complaint against the insanity. Eventually, most Forumers grew to live with the blobs, and peace was made again, as most of the blobs returned to their normal state.

As of today, very few blobs remain, and the only frequently active blob still lurking the Forum pages is @RIP|captainganon. Take his picture if u like.

~Corkus (Thx @ALKTnT)

Description: The greatest Province ever, hands down. Corkus>Gavel+Fruma+Dern+Wynn.

A province originating from the General Suggestions box a long time ago, brought back by the admins as a joke province, often used by community members on Province of Dern/Fruma theory posts in a sarcastic or joking manner. However, there are some who believe Corkus is actually a real province, causing some confusion in certain areas of the Forums.

New 3rd province confirmed as real just ask Slated, and its name is...
