    Sorry for slight necro, but would this build still work if I replaced one of the rainbows with a suppression or a concentration? (I dislike having low mana regen)

    Of course it would~ multielement is so that one's diverse likings can all be accommodated :D. Its k, i planned to update the thread and bump within the next week anyways

    Awakening has massive stat point boosts, and a faster attack speed tier. It also does a little more damage and has more steady damage.
    Fog of Creation, rather, gives you tons of additional neutral damage and elemental defenses.

    Offense: Awakening
    Stat point build: Awakening
    Mixed: Fog
    Defense: Fog

    monster is for damage more then it is for defense just like inferno
    and phoenix wing , oh man thats full out defense fire and air

    didnt see that
    but the fact that there is a mythic that is purely for damage doesnt mean there cant be one for damage and defense

    Yee but monster is only good for a bread and butter attack/defense mage with too little stat points to use another high damage wand :P. Even if one did have a lot of defense, theyd still have enough to use gaia/fatal/any other wand with the right gear :P

    (Okay, advance apology if this thread ends up getting locked because of my post, but, as has been said in the past, necroposting is bumping a thread for no reason, and I feel this thread still has purpose).

    Anyway, to my actual question... I want to use a version of this build, but I don't feel the jester set is worth the small increase in spell damage. Any alternative accessory suggestions? (I already have enough mana regen, I'm interested in other stats.)

    Well guys, its been awhile, but powders have been released at least partially, and based on the information i can already get some stuff going. Im going to skip the whole cosplay set section altogether, so this is the 5th and last part:

    There are quite a few things to consider when choosing powders to use. Obviously, tier vi powders are the best to use, and all of them are somewhere in the area near kandon-beta, molten hights, eltom, and thessad.

    1) what is the purpose of the powder?
    Water and fire are supportive, and because the intensity of the spell is scaled to the amount of powders, and you have support in mind, then putting all of one of these types is best.

    But what if its an offensive ability/my weapon only has 1 slot?

    2)Next we look at damage that you can add:

    Lets say you have a pure neutral and fire weapon, are an assassin, have 100% fire damage bonus, and 30% thunder damage.

    Obviously, if you used a fire powder, you would get the the most base damage on your weapon... HOWEVER, both assassin's attacking spell scale on thunder damage, using thunder damage would cover your weakness to water based enemies, and make use of your thunder damage. In short:

    3) Play to your strengths and cover your weakness. If you have 0 defense, putting powders that increase your damage whenever you get hit is a rather terrible idea. However putting powders that mitigate your main weakness is a rather brilliant one.

    4) dont spread yourself too thin. Elemental damage scales with many ids and stats, however, resistance to it chops a solid value off. If you are dealing 5 in each damage, the opponent has a much greater chance to take 0 damage from an attack, as opposed to if you did, say, 25 earth damage. Since 2 powders are required for a spell, at least have 2 of the same.

    5) on the off chance powders become less and less effective when more of the same are used, we can use optimization to figure out what is most effective!

    Its okay if you dont know/have trouble with calculus, as wolframalpha and the like can do it for you once you have an equation!

    Derivatives are the change of a variable at a specific value. Because maximums on graphs occur when the value goes up then down, then whenever a derivative = 0 and changes from positive to negative, there is a maximum. Because you cannot check the change on the bounds, you must also check these.

    though you may not know exact values, the general principle is that you want one variable in terms of the one you want to maximize.

    Lets have a common example that many textbooks use.

    Farmer n00b has 2000 ft of fencing, and his property is bordered by a river which does not need to be fenced. Which x and y dimensions give him the biggest area?

    Well we set up some simple equations:

    2x + y = 2000
    xy = area.

    Solve to make area in terms of one.
    Y = 2000 - 2x

    x * (2000-2x) = area
    -2x^2 + 2000x = area

    Take derivative

    Da/dx = -4x + 2000

    0 = -4x + 2000

    -2000 = -4x

    x = 500
    Therefore
    Y = 1500
    Maximum area = 500×1500 ft^2

    Sooo yay!
