There are five things you need to know first:

1: If you add red stone dust to a potion, it increases the duration

2: If you add Glowstone Dust to a potion, it adds power or potency to your potion

3: If you add a fermented spider eye to a potion, it corrupts the potion, for instance, a potion of healing becomes a potion of damage

4: Adding Gunpowder to a potion makes it throwable

5: drinking a bucket of milk cuts the effects of the potion short!

Something you forgot to mention: In versions 1.9 or above you need blaze powder in order to brew a potion. Each blaze powder provides fuel for 20 operations.

 

You should add that in versions of 1.9 and onward, adding Dragon's Breath to a Splash Potion (Throwable Potion) makes it a lingering potion (Area of Effect potion).
