An Open Question To The Mods About Collector's Items

...this was one of the first explanations I gave, when I was just being overzealous before the mod's decision was reached, and no one listened to me.

 

Just wondering can't you change the colour of the new nether armour set? And if you read my other post and the reply and stuff that could work right?

 

Well, your suggestion seems to be to add a new dye color. However, our decision was, in essence, the dyes and lasting enchantments and holdover aspects, do not affect the price of the item. At present, a bug is keeping the armors un-dyed, which hopefully will be fixed in the future, but as I have said before, this will not even matter once Armor Skins are optimized and re-introduced...at least, I -assume- they are coming back at some point.

 

Is selling Test-Gear illegal?

so? If someone is willing to spend 30974398056Le on something that looks like old nether armour, so be it. They got what they wanted from it anyways.

If people want to buy armour that looks different and both the buyer and seller agree, why is it an issue? Both sides get what they want from it.

 

Well, that last part is incorrect. Old Nether Armor is special because its dyed. New Nether Armor isn't. However, because of the glitch, you can make infinite copies of old nether armor, therefore, making its special-ness irrelevant. It IS scamming, as you're selling the new armor for a price that is equivalent of the old, dyed armor.

And with the both parties agreeing part, I completely refuse to accept. You can most certainly scam like that. Lets say BIll comes over with a 52 Loot, 13 xp Jera (max, worth a shitton) and he, being the lv 55 who's new to the game that found it, doesn’t know the price. So, Bennie comes along and asks to buy it for 32EB. Thinking its a decent deal, he accepts. Now, he just lost almost a stack of LE. People say that it’s Bill’s fault for not checking prices. Well, that’s bullshit. He was offered a price he saw fit, and accepted. He was never told the real price, nor offered the real price. If you do not consider this scamming, I’m pretty sure you’d still see it as immoral. The victim is clearly Bill.

 

Because that money will be going to a potential glitcher, not to mention soon you wont be able to tell the newly dropped armor from the old ones.
Nobody would agree to spend stacks of le knowing ALL of the information on the matter, even if they did it would still make it wrong.

 

This is why the decision was reached that dyes do not affect prices; for precisely this situation.

 

but people don't buy it for its looks, they buy it because its rare.
you don't see people going all over the place buying outlaw armor and leaf armor.
and even if it was for the looks, if the buyer knew that the armor he was going to buy for 2.5 stacks of le could be made costing the seller no emeralds whatsoever he would want to pay less.

 

If that's the case then people would realize that, stop buying them for absurd prices because it won't be considered rare anymore, and fix that part of the market WITHOUT making an explicit rule about it!

but people try to maintain it's rarity altho its already possible to make identical copies.
