Media Worst Gavel Quests

Yeah, that is one thing that makes parkour design difficult, trying to make sure the parkour can be done with low walk speed without making it aggravating for high walk speed, or just plain too easy.

 

There is part of the problem, right there. The dang platforms disappear. I need to take my time between jumps, because the dang jumps make me nervous as all hell. I hate heights, and I hate falling. So you, and your sick, disappearing parkour, give me a double whammy. I can make it through on my mage, but that's just because I bypass the parkour. Now, if everyone else likes the challenge, that's great. Visually, it's very cool. Really. very. cool. But for those of us who can't handle the short time between jumps, who need time to stop, think, and analyze, for those of us with visual issues, the disappearing parkour is hell. We are probably the smallest minority of players that there are, but please don't disenfranchise us. Make it possible for us to go around the moving parkour by using another method. Mages can do that. I don't know yet about archers and warriors, because I haven't gotten there, yet. My assassins will probably just have to skip those quests, as they currently are.

Keep following the trail, kid, and sooner or later, you'll find the monster. - Frankly, I found this to be one of the funnier quests in Gavel. If people only think of it as a fetch quest, then they are missing the dialogue, which is pretty funny, until the end. The end is an "oh, shit" moment. I like the quest. So, I'm weird. What else is new?

 

Meh, the option mechanic doesn't even work. If you choose to fight the boss, you just... fight it and kill it and kill it again after it respawns, over and over again, until you get bored and "choose" to take the other path. They basically force you to take the no-fighting path -.-

 

Im talking about the rewards for picking greed or the right thing from part 1.

Okay, I REALLY dislike Star Thief and Forbidden Prison. They had almost no lore to them and was basically a Do A, Do B, Profit type quest. They felt rushed, mostly Star Thief as it is literally "kill a guy" and that's it. However, Forbidden Prison had that super-annoying sneaking part that didn't work half the time I did it. Ultimate Weapon was VERY annoying and while it was kinda funny, but was mostly irritating, but you get 7 LE from it so who am I to complain.

However, my least favorite takes the cake as: ???
God that quest. Its way too hard, but the reward is NOT worth the pain it takes to do it. I'm not going to spoil anything, but let me just say: this quest isn't worth the pain and hype everyone believes it to be. In fact, the best reward you'll get is bragging rights. Seriously, it's not worth the time, the only reason I can think of doing it is if your a crazy completionist like me.

 

And there's next to no story to it. For searching around the entire province to solve a 'mystery' you get next to nothing. They could have done so much more with it but it is just so, so disappointing.

In reality I feel that people just are missing the point. In taproot I don't tell you where to find the rocks. Its a creative choice, and it has a reason. I want you to explore and see this world 1000 years ago before the darkness overwhelmed the area. If i gave you coords you'd run straight to it and wouldn't even understand whats going on in the map around them, but maybe they don't care and you guys just want xp. In Clearing The Camps, keep in mind this is the 2nd or 3rd quest you'll play in Gavel, and the first one outside the city. I again choose not to tell you the camp locations to force you to explore and learn the new map that you have NEVER seen before, same with Green Skinned Trouble, and in that one I paint some lore of the world, the orcs and villagers were at war, and now they have a cease fire. In Forbidden Prison I gave you a one of a kind interesting experience of sneaking found in like no other quests, its so original and everyone hates it because they can't just run through it and get rewards.

 

Like Grand Youth and Lost Royalty.

 

I am honestly shocked. Everyone harps on Star Thief and Clearing the Camps and quests like those for being one-dimensional fetches, and no one bothers to mention Crop Failure. Literally the first quest I made, and it is...literally just a fetch-quest that takes maybe five minutes to complete.

Shattered Minds, I am also surprised that is has not garnered more hate due to the build's placement causing respawn at the start area.

 

I completely forgot about quests thay were mashed up together since they werent really a bother. Crop failure felt like a side quest instead of a fetch quest.

Salted kinda explains this perfectly. Origianlly I was gonna do a best and worse of both, but then the entire worst list would be wynn quest and nearly the entire best list would be gavel.

I purposely did a list for each province because gavel quests are on another lvl than wynn quests that in reality, all gavel quests are good.

The tutorial quests of gavel are on here because, like the wynn tutorial, it becomes tedious after the 2nd time around. There obviously cant be lore in these starter quests and it has to be so exploration heavy BECAUSE it is tutorial. If star thief, camps or even green skin was in wynn, it would probably be some of the best quests out there.

Most of these quests aren't bad, they are only the worst in gavel.

You obviously didn't read the lore of a few other quests if you think ??? has no lore. Pay more attention to the dialogue in all the other quests and you might find a couple connections.

 

Oh yeah, I died four times in a row on this quest back when it was released and had to go from Ragni to Efelim for probably 1 hour, making me incredibly frustrated.

But hey, the quest itself is one of my favourites, I don't feel like a wrong location of the subsection should hinder the opinion I have of how the quest plays out.

I should give you props for making Forbidden Prison then, that quest felt like a breeze compared to the typical quest schematic.

The only problem I had with Green Skinned Trouble is how you specifically ask the player to bring 5 Axe Heads from the same mob, forcing them to wait for these important "sub bosses" to respawn. That to me, was kinda immersion breaking, but it was a nice average quest regardless.

I like how you want us to take in the scenery in Taproot and want us to explore but
1. When you're doing it for the 4th time walking in a zigzag for 5 minutes it just tedious
2. You want us to explore, how can we explore when there are fucking barrier blocks EVERYWHERE??

And for Forbidden Prison; that quest is just plain broken. Half the time I walk one way and get caught and the other half it lets me through. I never got teleported back when I didn't get the disguise, so I completely skipped that part of the quest wothout knowing it existed and beat it. And there is stuff that teleports you back EVERYWHERE! Do you know how many times I got stuck in tbe floor doing that quest?! It also has no lore whatsoever, and you don't even do anything to get put in prison! There was another quests that did sneaking better, I THINK it was Acquiring Credentials, with the stealth sequence? It might not be, but there is another Gavel quest with a short stealth sequence better then the entirity of Forbidden Prison.
