Music Noteblocks: Fallen Forest/ Dullahan Original Composition

Ok, so I did this:

It took me a couple weeks (don't judge, I don't have as much time as @XavierEXE) to make this. It is my first piece I have ever made in nbs and I hope you all like it (Although I don't know if you will, as it probably isn't any good).

My first idea was to make a piece for Kander Forest called Fallen Forest, and came up with the melody. Eventually, I started playing it at higher speeds, and realized it may sound better as a fast-paced boss fight music. Of course, I do not know what boss would get it, but it has to be an important one. I'm thinking either Amadel, Orphion, or Dullahan, but I have no clue which. Or I could just stick with my original idea of a slower, Kander forest piece.

Anyway, I hope you like it, and constructive criticism is definitely welcome!

Regularized some tempos, especially during transitions (@XavierEXE)
Some other strange parts fixed.
Slower version should be out in a couple hours. I don't currently have time to edit and record it (@FishWaffle)

I also had an epiphany today: Since a lot of you guys say its a good piece for Dullahan (and I think so too) maybe I can make the slower version for the Kander Forest and then the faster for Dullahan? It may seem repetitive, but it makes sense if you think about it, and I think it would provide a nice effect transitioning into the boss fight. What do you guys think?

SLOWER VERSION: FALLEN FOREST

Finally had time to get this recorded. I have been pretty busy lately.
Anyways this one has a tempo of 8.5 tps as opposed to 10 tps of the normal one. I do not know if 8.5 is usable in game though.

 

Could use a bit of work on timing in a couple parts, but this is awesome!
I think it would fit Amadel or CoW, or even the clock mystery bosses.

All seriousness, it feels a little bit too fast at times, but this is awsome!

 

Do you happen to know the times at which the plugin can use music?
I know normally it can only play 2.5, 5, and 10, but I have also seen it be 6.75 and 13.25.
Is there any possible speed it can play just under 10? Like maybe 8.75 or 9.25?

 

Made a few changes, but I'm not gonna make a whole new video yet.

 

It sounds echo-ey and creepy. I think it would fit The Dullahan quite well!

Sure. Still deciding on what tempo I want, and trying to figure out what tempos I can use. I know 5 and 6.25 are both options, but I think that would be too slow.

 

This song is kinda very deser-y like, so it doesnt fit amadel or others, I would suggest it in almuj

 

Whoa. I didn't even think of it as deserty, more of a intense minor piece for a boss fight or a really decayed/corrupted place. But I guess, if that's how you hear it, then sure.

Love it! The only thing I have to criticise is the really fast part. I feel it could fit in with CoW (As @XavierEXE said) Or maybe it could fit the Rodoroc insane asylum boss (If there's going to be one, E.G for a future quest) As it sounds very creepy! Good work, i'd love to see some soon! :D

Thank you for making this!! Just wanted to say I really like the minor keys projecting a creepy atmosphere and the fast pace would be perfect for Dullahan, yeah. I also love the big chords lending some weight to the fast pace piece. It would also work for the Lost Tower boss in the crypt but unsure if the the boss fight wud last long enuf to appreciate the music. Cheers!

EDIT: I had time to listen to the slower version and fast one a few more times…and really prefer the slower version. The rhythm for the slower version is paced a little better. Great Job!

 

Wow, 4 days before necro.... HAH! But anyways I must be the only person who prefers the faster version....

 

The thing is, that is a really simple boss. There isn't much lore, its really just a skeleton in a box, and it can be easily soloed.
In my opinion, themes should be saved for large bosses which have a great chunk of lore dedicated to them, and which usually require multiple people of its level to defeat. The only real bosses that fit this are Bob, Qira, Dullahan, Amadel, and Orphion. And yes, the fight usually takes much less than a minute to complete, so people probably wouldn't have time to enjoy the music or even get the song to play.

I prefer the faster version by a lot. For some reason the piece doesn't seem to fall into place as well for me when its slower.
