Sorry if I sound like a noob for asking this, but what exactly does "Doing x% damage" mean?
For example, if someone says "<Spell> does 80% damage along with sets them on fire." What does "80%" mean?

positive spelldamage in % tells you how much more damage you deal with spells, in percentage!

For example, if you had +20% spelldamage, and you'd normally deal 100 damage, 120 would be your final damage!

I mean like this. Here is a quote from a threat that a person posted in the past.
    What does this mean?
    " Left-click to inflict a melee attack, dealing ✣ 80% damage "

This means that if you do any Earth Damage, it would be multiplied by 80% (0.8).

    Example:

    Original Damage = 100
    +X% Earth Damage = 80

    100 * 0.8 = 180

You would do 180 Earth Damage which is 80% more of 100.

I still feel like people don't understand me. Here is a better example.
On the forum post "Class suggestion: Shaman, stacks of supporters!" post, one of the spells says "Doing this spell does 80% damage."
How much is 80% damage? There is no original damage for that 80%, therefore I do not understand what 80% damage means if there is no original damage to add it to.

Oh that's what you're trying to say. Well then all spells do this kinda thing, mage's metore does 400% etc. This percent is based on your weapon damage so if you have a weapon that deals 10-20 damage and you cast metore it would be 40-80 damage because you are multiplying 10-20 by 400%.

    Hope I helped!

So would elemental damage be determined by the amount of elemental damage of a certain element on your weapon?
