It can be good, but mana regen isn't that important... Your health is

It's important for every class, really. I'm not a Mage, so I can't answer your question precisely.

However, the short answer is: A lot, but not too much

Mana regen is essential to any mage focusing on spell damage, you need the mana regen to do ur insane spell casting for profit dmg about 14/4s mana regen is all you will really need

Mana regen is important on any class, if u dont use melee only, and especially on mage. I personaly have 20/4 mana regen on my mage and its super usefull because it allows me to spam spells which is really good.

    Yes.

My current level 88 mage has up to 13/4s mana regen (holding ethereal). Or 10/4s without holding ethereal

Depends. 2/4 is probably good enough for a melee mage, but for a spell mage 10/4+ is considered decent. But yes, if you enjoy spells and being able to sprint mana regen is great.

If you do mana regen you can use teleport more which allows you to escape, travel, or climb more frequently and easily

Not just Mage but for every class, especially on a water build, which is purely focused onto spell damage.
