Assassin Vs Mage Comparison

    Recently people have been saying mage is so much better than assassin. That assassin is underpowered & too weak to do anything. That it is unbalanced & needs a buff. But is this really all true?

    To find this out, I did some tests. With a spell damage build I used the same gear with assassin & mage. The gear only went up to level75 so it doesn't matter if I used it on my level93 mage. I used the same skill point build as well. When I used the same gear with my assassin & mage, here's what I got

    Assassin:
    Spin Attack - 7-8k Damage
    Multihit - 9-10k Damage
    Smoke Bomb - 19-22k Damage

    Mage:
    Meteor - 9-11k Damage
    Meteor (With Burn) - 10-12k Damage
    Ice Snake - 1-2.5k Damage

    There you go, those were the results. Now the difference in damage isn't too large except for the smoke bomb although people may say, "Mage can heal over 10k HP". Well yes.. & no. Mage can only heal over that amount to other players, not itself. I've healed a maximum of around 3k health to myself when I have about 10k HP. With Statue of course although I'm not sure why you'd walk around wearing those I heal myself a higher amount, which is 6k. As you can see you still cannot heal yourself over 10k even with a higher HP amount. Also another thing, when Mages have a low amount of HP, let's say the total is 10k although they have 300, they heal way less than usual. When I was at 24 HP for example, I healed myself like 10-100 health. Let me give another example because this is difficult for me.. if let's say I had 200 HP out of 10000, it would take me 7-10 heals to get back to full HP. Much much more as you can tell. Now that we've got that out of the way I can explain another complaint, range. Mages have range so they've got an advantage! Well yes.. they do have range but note assassin has range aswell, everyone complains about assassin being all close combat but it has smoke bomb! This spell can reach almost the distance length a meteor can & does much more damage. The only problem to this is the "slow" amount of time it deals the damage. There's a simple solution to this, vanish, multihit, run, smoke bomb. There & additionally to the 19-22k damage you just dealt 7-8k damage. Oh wait, not 7-8k multihit with bosses right? Because of the thunder damage.. 4-5k then. People also complain about the terrible mana of assassin but if you play it right with strategy, it really isn't too big of a problem. Now here's a video of my assassin with this build above soloing Amadel Final Form. So really.. is assassin as weak as everyone thinks?..

    Well with different class builds as the damage per attack varies. With one build that might be perfect for an assassin can trump a mage who has that same build with ease. Yet with a different build, a mage can destroy an assassin using the same build. Each of these classes have different plays styles and with the right armor and build, an assassin can be better than a mage and a mage can be better than an assassin. sure there are a few ways that one class might be better than another but all that might be changed in a future update

    I think you're missing a few important facts. You're merely looking at this in a pure damage standpoint. I don't think assassin is underpowered, but I feel mage is wayy too powerful. Meteor can hit a target far away, and is not as easy to dodge if you are not cautious. Smoke bomb on the other hand, can only hit a few blocks ahead of the caster and in a PvP situation, is extremely easy to avoid. Vanish drains mana and un-vanishes upon getting hit/hitting. Although there's nothing really wrong with that in itself, but Mage can completely run over that. Why do you need to vanish when you can tp through everything and blind em all? A line of enemies charging at you? Don't vanish! Just use Ice Snake and eat them up! In a PvP situation, Meteor and just a bit of attention to the Vanish particles nullifies the usage of it. And yes, healing even 3k is quite a bit. And as you brought up, mana is not really too much of a problem for assassins, which i agree with. But mana is used so much more efficiently in a Mage (not pure dps, actual usage, accounting for blind, slow, ect.). Also, I find that having ranged basic attacks already qualifies Mage for being better than Assassin.


    I repeat, I am NOT saying Assassin needs a buff, rather Mage needs a nerf. In comparison to Mage, it is trash, while in comparison to the actual gameplay, it is fine as is.

    While this doesn't have much to do with how good either class is, I must agree that it's rather strange that this is the case

    I would be happy if they nerfed smoke bomb a bit and buffed multihit a bit, it would just make sense.

    I actually really like this idea. It makes sense and wouldn't change the class dramatically. If they nerfed smoke bomb, buffed multihit and vanish a bit, I would be happy.

    As with Mage, I recommend using Reflection when fighting Mages so they deal the damage to themselves. (High Agility + High Reflection = Nightmare)

    Well Mage has an advantage with the range. It can easily snake ouy the assassin and just spam ice snake so the assassin won't reach the mage, woo

    Now, what I'm about to say applies to everyone when they are talking along the lines of this.
    Two days ago, I met up with maj and dueled him. He was able to beat my lvl 85 war within half a minute as a lvl 75 assassin. Now my other friend that's a lvl84 mage will take around 5 minutes to beat me in a duel.
    Neither of these classes needs a fix. The assassin can very easily be killed with it's low health, but makes up for it in terms of damage.
    Now, although the mages heal is quite a lot, it could be slightly reduced, when fighting a mage, you have to keep in mind that it's a ranged class. You simply need to force the mage to come to you, and give yourself the advantage, note: this does not apply to archers.

    To counter this argument, once again, just force the mage to come to you. If the mage doesn't know where you are he can't ice snake you. Hide behind corners. Or you could gain a height advantage, as ice snake has no vertical movement.

    I think assassin is only good for duels because of vanish, because it is kinda OP if you think about it, you go invisible behind cover, then you deal thousands of damage to someone before they can react when you cast a spell, I think assassin needs a slight buff, but not as big as what some people say the buff should be. Since you will mostly fight mobs and mobs can have an incredibly quick reaction I think assassin should get a buff, when i fought qira, used multi-hit after I uncloaked, I was spider webbed about 200ms later, the average human reaction time is 300ms. I think assassin does need a buff, just a tiny one though.

    1. We have less range compare our spin attack and multi but to meteor and ice snake
    2. You can heal that's already a massive improvement.
    3. Less mobility

    5. I haven't seen an assassin buff thread in a long time.
    It's not that assassin is not a viable class it just needs a slight buff to be on par with the other classes. Don't get me wrong though it's a great class.

    On the topic of a reaction time, many gamers have a quicker reaction time than those who don't play video games, and can as quick as 180 ms. In fact I just did more research, the fastest reaction time is about 100 ms and average is around 220 ms

    dont forget assassin is 5/5 and mage is 2/5

    assassin is suppose to deal 2.5x dmg of mage but mage deals 2.5x dmg of assassin when endgame. balanced? no

    mage can spam spells as he is made for spells. Assassin cant unless you do water build which is bad as there is not a single water mythic dagger. balanced? no

    mage can easily get away after being crowd controled by using teleport. Assassin cant do single shxt after being stun. balanced? no

    so you still think it is balanced? well i dont
