SPOILER Wynn Science - The Secret Behind Vanish

Vanish is was a signature spell of Assassins. It causes the user to spontaneously vanish seemingly into thin air. How does this work?

To understand invisibility, we need to look at the electromagnetic spectrum. More specifically, photon manipulation.

Photons are what make up light. Their size are that of the quantum scale and has no mass. Think of them as little balls of energy that emits radiation in the form of light and heat.

We humans 'see' things by having our eyes recognize and absorb these photons that have been reflected by the object. For example, if we see a red apple, we are really seeing photons that have bounced off the apple. The properties of the apple absorbs all the spectrum of the photon except one: red.

How does this relate to Vanish? Well, Vanish is essentially bending the pathways of such photons and either completely absorb or redirect these photons away from our enemies. In order to do this, Assassins need to create an area around them where they can have full control over these photons.

If any of you studied astrophysics, you may remember that Black Holes are capable of bending light - influencing the photons by sheer gravity.

Of course, I am not suggesting that Assassins can create miniature black holes as a black hole the size of a penny will mean armageddon. What I am suggesting, however, is that Assassins have powers similar to that of black holes, to concentrate their mass in a point in space and absorb photons around them.

Basically, Assassins, upon using Vanish, absorbs the radiation around them (photons of the electromagnetic spectrum) and thus creating a 'blind spot' in an observer's field of view. Here's a demonstration:

Close your left eye and stick up your right thumb in a 'thumbs up' position. Straighten your arm forward so that the tip of your right thumb is directly in front of you, an arm's length away.

Now, slowly swing your right arm away from your center of vision. However, do not let your eyes follow the thumb, instead, keep your eyes looking straight forward while 'observing' your thumb at the edge of your field of view. Keep your left eye closed.

You may be surprised to find that there is a certain angle where you are unable to see the tip of your thumb. You know it's there but you can't see it.



What you just found was your blind spot. This is the point where your right eye is unable to pick up photons. The same applies for Vanish. The photons around the Assassin are bent away from your eyes, essentially exploiting and enlarging your blind spot.

You may be thinking that this is not impressive at all. However if this was applied in the real world, the effects would be devastating.

By bending the pathway of one photon, you are subjecting it to influence another. This is known as the butterfly effect. If you were to forcibly concentrate all nearby photons into one point, you may as well give everyone around you seizures.

The photons being absorbed by the eyes of people around you would be disoriented, causing them to flutter and collide with each other, causing white blurs in your vision and causing temporary blindness.

Vanish is certainly capable of doing this. The spontaneous redirection of photons are sure to create a chain reaction which will severely damage the nerves of the eyes of people around you.

So think twice before using Vanish next time, or your friends may need to pay another visit to the optometrist.

 

I mean, I'm not a science genius, but this sounds pretty accurate, and its certainly interesting too. Nice!

Actually this is pretty accurate because that's one current approach to work with invisibility.

I will just read this as a fusion of sci-fi and actual physics (the invisibility articles i have read are about the EM wave approach)

 

or maybe you change the element of your body to let photon directly pass through

either way, dont question wynn it's magic

Changing element? That is some very next level alchemy, breaking all those strong and weak forces and reforming them in just a few seconds

But I think we are viewing creativity/fiction/magic or whatsoever in an overly rational manner.

Let us just enjoy the magic in wynncraft, just like how you will not question the validity of Harry Potter

Edit: Nevertheless, it is always an intriguing thing to explore if photon bending or EM wave interference of light or whatever you call it can be achieved in real life
