You all were saying that the hourglass was built already and that detlas's hourglass couldn't be based off of it , i went back in time while doing chraftmas chaos the hourglass was indeed finished.
Oh also this is ironic now:

What does detlas have in common with selchar? Only the hourglass.
And if you still wanna argue about that , think about this : If they had the hourglass and many buildings finished 30 years ago in sselchar and tom lived there for 40 years, is it possible that selchar existed 60+ years ago?

I am SO staying out of the core of this discussion, for now, however, when words get bandied about while being used improperly, I get the itch to type. So, "based upon", "based on", etc., needs a bit of clarification. First, let's take a person who is assigned a class project to create a painting, "based upon" or "based on" the style of Michelangelo. If they turn in a painting that is a copy of one of Michelangelo's works, they will get a grade of "F". Why? Because their work was not original. "Based upon" or "based on" does not mean making a copy that is nearly or completly indistinguishable from the original. Second, have you ever seen a jet fly? Its design was based on the basic principles of flight, to wit, lift+thrust > weight+drag. Please, if you can, show me "lift", "thrust", "weight", and "drag". You can't, so stop trying. Again, "based upon" or "based on" does not mean copying, but it does mean "to follow an idea". Third, architecturally, The Plaza shopping district of Kansas City, MO, USA, was/is based upon the architecture of Seville, Spain. However, The Plaza is a shopping district within the city of Kansas City, MO, and Seville is an entire city. To say that The Plaza is a copy of Seville, is ludicrous, however, to say that The Plaza was built in the architectural style of Seville, or, that it is based on Seville, is completely correct.

Now, how does this fit into the lore of Selchar and Detlas, both of which may have been, either partially or completely, rebuilt throughout their respective histories, as has happened innumerable times in human history?

The town wasn't complete 30 years ago. You can't base a major trading city on an incomplete town.
They may have been rebuilt, but this isn't what most players think. If you ask anyone that's done Sister City the would say first was Selchar and then Detlas and wouldn't mention anything about them being rebuilt. The point of this thread is to point out this inconsistency to show that the timeline surround Selchar and Detlas isn't so clear.

This thread was made for bragging rights and to show that the lore is incorrect , which the posted of the thread and spyrohawk have failed to do .
It wasn't made to show that the timeline isn't so clear. You can even see that from the thread name : "The inconsistency"

No. That is just rude and inconsiderate because if you actually look into what @jpmrocks has done then you'd know he made an ENTIRE timeline of major events of all of Wynncraft. This is how he found the inconsistency. If you can't respect that then I can't respect the things you say.

I respect jpmrocks he's a great theorist he just didn't want want to accept his mistake and accept the fact that selchar could have been built before detlas which leads me to believe that jpmrocks and spyrohawk just don't think they make mistakes :P.
Oh god i've turned this into a flame war.

Yea but he was sending me drafts to look at before this was posted. It shows that he actually thought about the timeline and realized the inconsistency instead of just blatantly posting what the wiki says.

Truthfully I stopped reading after page 4 so feel free to yell at me but, what if the founder of Detlas just looked at the building plans for Selchar? In real life people always have to draft a plan before they build anything unless you're a two year old playing with blocks so maybe the people of Selchar just took a long time to finalize the plans, but the founder of Detlas saw the hourglass a long time ago and decided to add it to the city. Sorry I'm bad at explaining things

What if, before Detlas was a metropolis (Or at least as metropolis as a city in an ancient-ish game can get), it was a tiny village like Elkurn?

I've read through this entire thread, I've been following it since it was first posted, but I'm not here to talk about the thread's topic contents, but rather about some comments made here, and to give some friendly advice.

This is your opinion. No matter how strongly you feel that you are correct, it is your opinion, and you posted no facts to support your opinion. You stopped discussing the topic, and started casting aspersions about something that you cannot prove. This is never a good idea to do. You're heading towards making an argumentum ad hominem any time that you let yourself fall into this.

I do not see from where you get this conclusion. "The inconsistency" says to me that something is either seen as inconsistent, or it is inconsistent. In this case, that something is the timeline of the lore. Your conclusion does not follow from the prior statements that you have made. At this point, you need to have some firm evidence for your claim, and I just don't see it. Maybe it's just me, maybe not, I don't know, however, I can't see it.

argumentum ad hominem. You went there. Yes, yes, you did. You are now arguing the writer, and not what was written.

    EMPHASIS MINE
Wow! At this point, you are either kidding or you are dangerously serious. First, if you are kidding, and as long as this discussion has been going on, and given that DarkDemonDragon called you on what you said about jpmrocks, above, any attempt by you at self-effacement, is probably going to fall flat. It's just not going to work. UNLESS, you make it absolutely clear as to whether or not you are making a joke, or whether or not you were being sarcastic. Second, if you were serious, that you believed that you had turned this into a flame war, then why post your comment? Why not just delete it, and avoid risking starting a flame war? I don't understand this. Why would you knowingly risk getting into trouble, i.e., starting a flame war? I just don't understand anyone doing that.

That's all my analysis of those two comments. That's what I thought of when I was reading them.

My advice is simple. Cool off. Take a break. Apologize for not stating your opinion as an opinion. Come back and discuss the topic, rationally. Emotions are OK, just don't let them rule you; you rule them.
