    Recently, we all heard about the changes to life steal.
    Before, it worked once every 2 seconds with spells and basic attacks, and activated on every hit of poison. Obviously this meant that with good poison, some life steal and AoE spells, you were practically unkillable. This needed to be nerfed. But... the staff went way too far with the nerf, and now Life Steal is nearly useless. Here's the first nerf:
    Basically, life steal only works with basic attacks. Disappointing that I can't use meteore to steal health anymore, but this nerf was ok. Life steal would still be viable if this were the only nerf. Now let's take a look at the second nerf:
    What? This blew my mind when I read it. I mean, seriously? How is life steal going to be viable if it's a CHANCE that may or may not average out to once every two seconds?! This is also annoying because the ID still says "Life Steal (-+)x/2s" (x being any possible number for the amount of health you would steal) implying it will work every 2 seconds 100% of the time.

    I was still interested in what the effects of this would be, so I took a video to show you. Marvel at Needlr's amazing music as I prove how useless life steal is.

    What you need to know for this video is that the player's hearts can flash white for two reasons:
    1. Getting Hit
    2. Being Healed
    So, if my health goes down when they flash, that's not life steal.
    If my health goes up when they flash, THAT is life steal.

    The amount of life steal I have doesn't matter, it's how often it activates. I show my gear to prove that I have life steal, and the wand I am using is Viper, in my second hotbar slot.

    The other thing you need to know is that Life Steal only activates ONCE during the entire video: While I'm killing the fourth wolf.



    Now, my suggestion to fix this is to just make life steal work once every 2 seconds GUARANTEED, like before, but ONLY with BASIC ATTACKS. Not spells or poison damage.

    LAST THING: This entire thread applies to Mana Steal as well, because it works in the same way.

    Anyhow, I believe they should make it to what your suggesting, but the higher the attack speed, the more seconds added.
    Example:
    -------
    Super Fast: 2/7s
    Very Fast: 2/6s
    Fast: 2/5s
    Normal - 2/4s
    Slow: 2/3s
    Very Slow: 2/2s
    Super Slow: 2/1s

    The way it worked before didn't matter on the number of hits, it just meant "every 2 seconds, if you are hitting an enemy, life steal will activate once"

    Wait, so, does negative life steal work the same way, then? It seems a bit unfair if it still took health if you are in the negative for life steal but wouldn't help you if it's positive. And then wouldn't it also need to be nerfed for melee builds? I mean, if you have a spell dmg based build, life/mana steal is useless, so how would that compare to someone who uses a melee build where it may still help them?

    It's bad enough that life steal was nerfed to only have a chance of activating, but the chance of life steal activating itself is pretty low. ._.

    The fact that you have to chose between life steal gear or spell gear actually balances well now- IF life-steal works every 2 seconds. That way you could diversify into basic attackers vs spell attackers

    What are you on about? You get healed by lifesteal very often.

    0:17 +14 HP (lifesteal)
    0:21 +4 HP (regen)
    0:26 +6 HP (regen)
    (can't see during inventory stuff)
    0:44 +14 HP (lifesteal)
    0:47 +5 HP (regen)
    0:49 +14 HP (lifesteal)
    0:50 +14 HP (lifesteal)

    0:51 +4 HP (regen)
    0:57 +4 HP (regen)
    1:05 + 14 HP (lifesteal)
    1:12 + 10 HP (regen)

    Lifesteal activated 5 times in the whole video, not once. And easily half the time you weren't even hitting mobs. And keep in mind you are using a very fast attack weapon, which lowers your lifesteal chances (to make it happen every 2 seconds even if you hit super fast).

    The devs should understand there is a difference about the game being challenging and being difficult.

    Impo, the nerfs on wynncraft made the game requires a lot of focus and attention to the gameplay, instead of being fun and chill out most of the time and some what intense while facing bosses, it makes the player needing to be focus while being around any normal mobs.

    All in all, whether the life steal and mana steal is debatable, please remember,
    Wynncraft is a game, it is meant to be for fun, not for over seriousness or overly challenging

    I see now, thank you for that, but this still doesn't explain why it's a percent instead of guaranteed every 2 seconds now.

    This also means that life steal is way less useful for archers then every other class because: at 0:44 I was hitting 3 mobs at the same time, so my life steal chances were increased. Archer can't hit multiple enemies with it's basic attack, and that's all that activates life steal.

    And since it's still random, it's tough to make a build with it unless you have like 1/6th of your health in life steal. (Exaggeration but you get my point)

    Can't agree more.

    The "old" lifesteal system was fine to me. It didn't trigger always, which seemed a good balance to me. Grinding was actually decently possible, but you could still die if you messed up by being swarmed. For boss fights the amount of lifesteal was actually sort of needed.

    I have over 100 lifesteal, but I can't even sustain in the long run at Molten Heights. The game (especially 90+) is already pretty grindy, and this just added another annoyance factor making me kinda lose interest to play the past week. Wynn should be fun and a bit challenging, not a constant irritation.

    Thats true... Lifesteal used to be my health topper in towns... (Sorry poor innocent villagers). Doesn't really function well in that regard any longer :/

    Pretty much the same here. All we can do is hope it will be changed back or at least changed to a better system it is now.

    First time it "didn't work" (like 1.5 week ago) I recall seeing a post that it would be fixed over night. 3 Days later it was still like this and didn't really play anymore after. I can't be bothered to fill half my inventory with potions when doing my chest route due to the high amount of fire damage (fire/lava, not mobs) you take. Since I can't heal on random mobs it is just not worth the effort anymore.

    Idk about everyone else, but I just try to keep the level of RNG/luck in any game I play to an extreme minimum. This, doesn't help that :/
