Somewhere away from Nessak where it was winter permanently, past Bob's Tomb and the many starving packs of Snow Wolves and Wundibos (Windigos) . Was the Ice Canyon, a very abandoned canyon where winter never ended. Many miners and small towns were scattered across. The Sentinels and rusted golems who weren't corrupted weren't very nice, but the only form of protection for the residents of the Ice Canyons, there it was never safe. There was always a constant war between scattered sentinel regiments and seemingly infinite herds, packs or whatever of Dire wolves, Ice elementals and the mysterious Cold Shadows.
This story follows the life of Matt, one of many who works in the mines and live deep within the Ice Canyon.
The climate was so harsh and the war between them and the creatures of the Ice Canyon was endless.
If you walked up to somebody there and told them you wished the war between them was over and the winter would end, even an exhausted sentinel on patrol would burst out laughing.

Matt woke up early in the morning, it was snowing hard out more than usual. He had to head off to work. His old run-down shack was able to hold off against the harsh weather but not the creatures.
Matt stood up and got his Hiker's Boots on and grabbed his pickaxe and hatchet. He also had a Talisman (good luck charm), a ring named "Sandust", he wore it with him wherever he went. He stepped out of his door into the harsh cold "Stupid winter" he said and he trudged towards a giant cave to start mining. Another fellow miner stepped into the cave and went towards the other end and to the right down where more mineral deposits were found. Matt was assigned to other things. Matt thought about a chestnut-coloured horse and leaving the Ice Canyon as he walked past a Rusted Guard Golem. A sentinel patrol walked past. Their old plated boots and rusted spears weren't much good but it could be worse. Matt picked up his pick and climbed up a ladder. Then he hugged the ice and stone and walked across a wooden bridge to the other side of the top of the cave. There was some explosives and rails nearby but Matt didn't need to use them right yet. Soon Matt actually noticed the clicking and banging of various pickaxes and hammers against the stone and ice below and throughout the cave.

Matt raised his pick and smashed it into the ice, it exploded revealing a very hard rock behind it.
"Unlucky me!" He said to himself as he readied some explosives.
He picked up one TNT and tossed it towards the hard rock.
KABOOOM!!! rocks and gravel came crashing down. He had cleared out the rock.
Matt grabbed his shovel and began to dig out the gravel.
Soon Matt was back to work. If he could find just 1 emerald or even some iron, he'd be able to spend the rest of the day at home.
While Matt thought of it, his pick struck something hard, green particles flew out.
"Lucky me!" 4 Sentinels came up to inspect the emerald deposit. "You may spend the rest of the day home Matt" said one of the sentinels after inspecting the ores.
Matt screamed WOOHOOO!!!! on his way out of the cave and ran for his shack.
He reached his shack soon, the door was locked so he reached in his coat pocket for key, he raised the key and shoved it into the padlock on the spruce wood door, it let out a metallic click and the door opened.
Matt walked inside and took his boots off. He shut the door sealing the harsh cold behind him.
He went to his desk and lit his candle. He opened his book and began to write about different creatures and animals.
In less than 4 minutes, there was a knock at his door.
